Take that ....Were a boyband in the UK in the early 90's. I just got their greatest hits cheap.
They still show some videos on vh1. And I gotta admit, a few of their songs are charmful fluff that bring a smile to my face. They seemed to be a NKOTB for england. But lead singer gary barlow did actually write some of their songs (ON HIS OWN ), so, at least ome member of the group had something to offer. Unlike the conservative new kids, take that chose to be an obviously camp boyband appealing to homo's too. Their videos are very homoerotic. Particually "pray" "it only takes a minute girl" (funny title) "do what you like" (that is the gayest video ever. Absolutely shit song aswell) So, USA pop fans should amazon it cheap. Better pop then the spice girls I say. Though not as good as New kids (who seemed to of taken themselves way to seriously) Only songs I'll hear Back for good Everything changes Pray (good song is this) Could it be magic (so its a cover, its ok) It only takes a minute girl (my guilty fav) [Edited 7/13/05 17:33pm]

'Sure' is one of the worst pop songs and videos EVER. I HATED them while they were out. I prefered East 17 who were "tougher", and Brian Harvey had a better voice than all of Take That put together. Shame he turned into such a spaz - how do you attempt suicide by running yourself over with your own car?
Yes, Gary wrote all the non-cover songs. He's the the awkwards looking chubby one thrust into boyband stardom. He writes songs for other people now. The only songs I can stand are: Pray Back For Good A Million Love Songs It Only Takes A Minute Never Forget Could It Be Magic (prefer other versions though)

I never cared 4 their music. But they introduced Robbie Williams 2 the world and that's all that really matters. I did like East 17 (Particularly "Deep", which was a minor radio hit in the states in late 1993). Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917

Oh yeah east 17. I missed them. Though I do remember take that breaking up though It was crazy. "House of love" is a good cut. Yeah I like "deep". Really nice tune. For a boyband its pretty sexual too. "stay another day" is played every christmas on radio and music stations. Good song. Played out now though. About one of the members dead brother I think? Touching.

He sings out of tune on "cover girl". But I like it though. Beats that joeys annoying kid voice. Danny wood did fuck all in the group. But he did co-write Tommy page corn fest "i'll be ur everything". I had my first dance with a girl to that song.

Oh God, I hate that song... and erm, I bought Joey McIntyre's first solo album. I sold it for a penny. Probably the worst thing I've ever owned, and I have a LOT of shit.

I liked joeys voice when it matured. Like on NKOTB's "face the music" album. Anyway, i was thinking of buying that joey album. Is it pop fluff, or more mature like jordan knights album?

Absolute fluff, and he can't sing on key. I really liked Jordan Knight's album... erm, then he ended up of Hit Me Baby One More Time singing Mario

without shame:
i adore 'a million love songs'. 'back for good' is an excellent tune. and i also like: - 'everything changes' - 'never forget' - 'could it be magic' and i fucking detest 'relight my fire', which is one of the worst songs ever released.

oh, and despite Mark Owen's complete inability to sing, and the limp, trite story behind the song, i also like 'Babe'.
On East17, - their music was mostly terrible. They only got anywhere because they were marketed as the 'cooler', more 'street' version of Take That. In retrospect, Deep (which is their only half-decent song) was crap. And it's a whole other thread, but All Saints were damn good - their debut album is excellent. (I make the connection because of All Saints' and East17's tendency to wear combat trousers and look 'hard, like'. )

There were some very shaggable blokes in Take That (Howard, Jason) but that's about it.
