Z Cult Favorite - Munchie's For Your Love, I'd Rather Be With You or What's A Telephone Bill O.K. my funk soldiers, I know you're there, cuz I can see ya! It's not many of us, but, it's not about numbers. The U.S. Funk Mob is still a strong army. Dig, if someone put a pistol up to the side of your temple and said that you HAD to choose between these 3 GREAT Bootsy ballads, as to which one was your fave, which one would you choose? And why? Mine would definately be "Munchies For Your Love". SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Some days, I like funk ballads better than the more uptempo funk numbers. I'd Rather Be With You is one of the best of it's genre. The other two cuts are good (particularly What's a Telephone Bill), but they can't compete. As in "I Love You" is also good. But I'd Rather... is a perfect song if you ask me. It's a smooth song, but that bass kinda lurches it along.

Right on for "As In (I Love You)" [Edited 7/19/05 14:12pm]

Aww this is a killer choice, but I would have to go with What's A Telephone Bill. They are all good songs, with killer basslines and Bootsy's classic vocal stylings. But What's A Telephone Bill gets me everytime. They are both great tracks. [Edited 7/19/05 14:32pm]

Bootsy's playing the bass like a lead on Munchie's sounding like Jimi both vocals & Playing

Okay, I had to listen to these again to say..... I'm going to say Telephone Bill.
But if I was you know. I might rather want to hear munchies to rock out a little.

Dag.....All of them are tight. It's a strong tie between "Munchies" and "I'd Rather".....Ah, what the hell..I'm gonna go with "Munchies".

Damn BG Baby, you've done again. This is a tight one b/c you know I got much love for my man Bootsy. It's a toss up in my mind for Munchie's For Your Love & I'd Rather Be With You. Now that I think about it, I am feeling I'd Rather Be With You b/c on its unique tempo and lyrics.

Damn Black! This is a hard one I had to go home and listen to all three before I could decide, but after much consideration I have to go with "What's a Telephone bill". Damn you for making me decide

Man, why u think that's my favorite?! Bootsy is so heavily influenced by Hendrix, it's not even funny. Bootsy is basically Hendrix on bass and he shows that on "Munchie's". Even his vocals are imitating Jimi when Jimi spoke. The end of Munchie's is musically orgasmic. He took it to that level on the bass with that song. Unfortunately, I don't have any of Bootsy's 1970s stuff.....yet, except for "I'd Rather Be With You" which is the B Side to my favorite Bootsy jam I have on 45....."Body Slam". Andy is a four letter word.

Man, I might end up gettin' shot, !!.....I don't Know....mainly because I have the memory of him doing a live medley both "I'd Rather Be With You" and "Munchies For Your Love" when I saw him a few years back...Man, he pulled all his Hendrix stuff out that night!
