New Tears for Fears - WOW Picked up tickets to see tff in Phoenix this coming Tuesday. Thought I would pick up their latest album, first in 15 years, Everybody Loves a Happy Ending so I could familiarize with the new tracks. Have to say this is on of the best albums I have heard in many years. Beautiful melodies, unique songs and a welcome maturation in sound avoiding the stuck in the 80's trap that many other bands from that era have suffered from.
Standouts (although all tracks are good) Closest thing to Heaven Secret Garden Who Killed Tangerine Call Me Mellow Here is a link to the Closest Thing to Heaven video http://www.menithings.com...height=530 Anybody else listened to this album? Thoughts?

Thoughts? Yeah, sorry, I thought it was dreadful. No wonder it tanked. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Have to disagree with that. I think the CD was AMAZING, easily one of the Best albums of the year. As far as the album "tanking", who gives a Fuck. SInce when do sales Dictate Good and Bad, so i guess R kelly's New Trash is the best thing ever since it sold well, please. But as usual something "good" or something "Different" or an "older" artist didnt catch on in the USA, mainly because, Record Companies SUCK, Radio and DJ's SUCK and MTV SUCKS and Honestly Most of the public Sucks. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

If you like this try The Dissociatives which I've already posted about. It's so nice bands from past years can release such great quality product unlike most "new" artist which we are force fed by the powers that be. Ya'll know the culprits. http://www.menithings.com...height=530 Anybody else listened to this album? Thoughts? Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Along with The Dissociatives, the new Tears for Fears CD is among my fave CDs of the last year. It's nice to hear artist of another generation releasing quality relevant music, IMO. Agreed. I thought this was a pretty strong album. And believe it or not, this is the only Tears for Fears album I'm actually familiar with. I started getting into music after they semi-retired....
I was thinking about going back and getting the "Sowing the Seeds of Love" album though, or at least a good greatest hits comp.

I used to love them but they lost me with the "sowing the seeds of love" and this is more of the same...only his voice is now shot.

Harsh but to a certain degree true. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

They definitely have changed their sound and the sacharine (sp?) level is much higher since STSOL. I just happen to dig it. Perhaps it is becuase I am in my 30'now, less angry and married resulting in a testosterone drain

Weird! I was just listening to TfF last night. Thanks for the info! The ORG - the only place where you can be called a wigger, a racist and a Nazi and be banned for defending yourself. It's so hard being white nowadays...

The album was good, but it was just hard for me to get into. Especially since Tears For Fears is better know as a Synth-Pop/New Wave band. I know they've moved beyond that and that they understand the 80's are over, but come on. They've been listening to too much Rubber Soul or Revolver to come up with this new sound. It just doesn't sound like "them" anymore. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I agree with you completely in the commercial popularity vs quality ratio, but I think the album bombed in the UK because it was crap. It sounds like 10 CC outtakes. My opinion -- anyone curious about TFF needs to get into, in order:
Seeds of Love - because it was a great "cap" to the original duo's run Elemental - because it was roland orzabal's announcement that he WAS TFF The Hurting - because it's classic New Wave, and really the only TFF project you can classify as such then check out the new record, because it is an extraordinary piece of work, especially in light of all the "group" has done/been through in the last 20+ years. If you love music the TFF library is one to sink your teeth into! kevin

Agreed. Their album definitely has some good cuts on it. I have been listening to it lately on my Launchcast Player and I am thinking about buying it.
