Madonna's "Dear Jessie" Video!!!

I ahve never seen this, nor did I even know that Dear Jessie was released as a single or a video.

This is a very kiddie cartoon video for kids. Even more cute than what I ever though Madonna would do at that time. It doesnt feature her live in the video but does have a cartoon fairy of her flyin through it.

Complete witht he pink elephants, walking lemonades, banana on skates teddy bears walking with dollbabies holding hears and goofy lookin purple dragons lol

NO it's offical.

WB and Madonna got into a fight over it. WB wanted Dear Jessie as the single Madonna wanted Oh Father. She shot the video for Oh Father why they were stuggling over the release. WB yeilded to Madonna and let her release Oh Father in the states with the video of her in it. As punishment they threw together a video for Dear Jessie for Europe and the UK, and did not release Oh Father over there. Oh Father got a release in the UK and Europe 7 years later as part of the promo for the Something to Remember collection.

I cant see how that video would've done good for the album even at that time. The song is a must skipper for me smile

I think it's a gorgeous song. I love how it's really childlike and merges into Oh Father on the album.

Baby face don't grow so fast
Make a special wish that will always last
Rub this magic lantern
He will make your dreams come true for you

Ride the rainbow to the other side
Catch a falling star and then take a ride
To the river that sings and the clover that
Brings good luck to you, it's all true

Pink elephants and lemonade, dear Jessie
Hear the laughter running through the love parade
Candy kisses and a sunny day, dear Jessie
See the roses raining on the love parade

If the land of make believe
Is inside your heart it will never leave
There's a golden gate where the fairies all wait
And dancing moons, for you

Close your eyes and you'll be there
Where the mermaids sing as they comb their hair
Like a fountain of gold you can never grow old
Where dreams are made, your love parade

Pink elephants and lemonade, dear Jessie
Hear the laughter running through the love parade
Candy kisses and a sunny day, dear Jessie
See the roses raining on the love parade

Your dreams are made inside the love parade
It's a holiday inside the love parade

On the merry-go-round of lovers and white turtle doves
Leprechauns floating by, this is your lullaby
Sugarplum fingertips kissing your honey lips
Close your eyes sleepy head, is it time for your bed
Never forget what I said
Hang on you're already there

Close your eyes and you'll be there
Where the mermaids sing as they comb their hair
Like a fountain of gold you can never grow old
Where dreams are made, your love parade

Pink elephants and lemonade, dear Jessie
Hear the laughter running through the love parade
Candy kisses and a sunny day, dear Jessie
See the roses raining on the love parade

the video is what pushes this song from the point of being just annoying and sacharine to the point of being totally gag-alicious. barf

I liked it when the album came out, but I'm pretty sick of it now too.

One good thing it has going for it though is that it sounds like a "Parade" outtake.

If you mean the official WB True Blue vid, with madonna in it, dont bother, its horrific. She looks awful and the whole video is cheap. No wonder she left it off the Imaculate Colletion.

The I want You video is great. All moody and atmospheric, bit like the song, and she looks fantastic in it. Its basically just Madonna in a hotel room going nuts because the guy she wants wont call her. Its one of my favourite vids of hers.

Say what you will about "Dear Jessie", but "Oh Father" is the point where Madonna went from being a pop singer into a real artist. I've been humming that song lately a lot and recently played the music video (from "Immaculate Collection"). What a haunting and amazing song. Not a bad video either. Madonna made the right choice.

VH1 only showed "I Want You" a handful of times....it wasn't really a single and didn't come with much hype...It just kind of came and went. I'm pretty surprised by "True Blue" but it's an umimpressive video. Think "Lucky Star" with a blue background, terrible blue outfits, a blue chevy (I think) and a diner set in the background. I would have bought that EBay video....why oh why aren't all of her proper music videos in one place. Throw in "Dress You Up" and all movie compliation videos ("Into the Groove", "Gambler", etc.) as well!

A pop frinedly light song that could have possibly hit the top ten...hell, it was Madonna in the late eighties, it almost definately would have hit it. "Oh Father" was probably her only single in a while that didn't hit the top ten from that era, even thought it's a great song. Radio was probably a little afraid to play a big ballad like that, after the daneable hits off "Like A Prayer".

The song itself was originally part of a Marvin Gaye tribute album called "Inner City Blues". It had an accompanying home video collection which Madonna's video was on. I'm sure it's long out of print, but check Ebay, U never know.

eek Thats one of the few madonna songs I'll play. . I like the "dear jessie" video.

The "oh father" video is awesome though. It is "citizen kane" like to all film geeks out there. The setting is gorgeously white and snowy. Haunting song. I love it.

Yes it's a great video to compliment a great song. I know many do not like this song, but I love it. It's very playful, sorta beatles-ish. The video is one of her better one, IMO.
