Lauryn Hill Live in Stockholm! Yesterdays concert was absolutly fantastic! I had my doubts after reading reports of her earlier shows in europe during this tour, her beeing late several hours & stuff like that but only 3 min after announced time the band takes place on stage as Lauryn is announced. The place is packed & I'm just infront of stage. Lauryn totally dominates the stage with her beauty & carisma as she & the band kicks of with "Doo wop(that thing)" The audience response is enourmous. The songs were very much rearranged from the albums & previous liveperformances. She did a little bit of Amerie's "1 thing".She does stuff from her "Unplugged" album but with full band that includes 2 guitarplayers, 2 bassplayers!!!! 1 drummer,3 percussionplayers,3 keyboardists, 3 backupsingers. She talks about her getting back into performing infront of an audience again after beeing away & that she's got this new inspiration about making music again as she start playing new songs. It was like an explosion,so powerful & full of energy. One of the new songs had Lauryn playing acoustic guitar backed up by percusion. The groove was DEEP. Y'all know the Richie Havens performance from the Woodstock movie, then U'll have an idea. She resembles Richie Havens,Sly Stone & Bob Marley(she does an awsome version of "Iron lion zion") She is the funkqueen of today & I can't wait 4 her new album. Of course she did some amazing performances of her debut like "Lost ones""Miseducation of""X-factor""To Zion" & at the end some Fugees stuff. She told us she can't wait 2 come back & I hope she does! /peace Manki | |
