Kenny loggins Bought his 1991 "leap of faith" album. I was expecting "Danger zone" fake rock, but its pretty mellow and very, very slick with top backing session players. Some of it is very nice. If uninspired lyrically, but the production is top notch. Are most of kenny's albums like this?

You topped off with Kenny Loggins...

Leap of Faith is one of his better albums in the latter part of his career. It's mellow but if I recall he was going through a personal transition around that time: spiritual awakening and a divorce. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

You topped off with Kenny Loggins... Kenny has some of the sweetest songs (and voices). And I really like "The Real Thing" I didn't realize it was about divorce until I really listened. Still it's just a nice song. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

Leap of Faith was actually a return to a lush, soulful, laid back sound that Kenny had on his first solo album, Celebrate Me Home(produced by Bob James)--it was closer to a Doobie Brothers/Michael McDonald feel. Bob James also produced Kenny's second album, Nightwatch, but this one was little bit more commercial, and Kenny had a big hit with "Whenever I Call You Friend"... Kenny also wrote "What A Fool Believes" for this album, but his version didn't take off...he gave it to Michael and The Doobie Brothers a year later, and their version obviously became a smash hit...after that, his stuff slowly got more commercial , and by the mid eighties , he was doing the "fake Rock" stuff like Footloose and Danger Zone-- the laid back, soulful stuff got left behind for the most part, although it would show up occasionally with tunes like " Love Will Follow" (From Vox Humana)... So, Leap of Faith was kind of like going home to that soulful feel(incidentally, that's Smokey Robinson doing background vocals on the title track! and guitarist Hiram Bullock on the guitar Solo...)....he has another album, The Unimaginable Life that has some real nice touches, with collaborations with Babyface and former Take 6 member Mervyn Warren...(beware, though, there's some sappy crap on there, too, with his wife reading some stuff from a book she and Kenny wrote ), but there's some nice r&B production on there, too... ... [Edited 7/14/05 18:45pm] Thanx man. I will check out "the umimaginable life". My fav songs from "leap of faith" are "conviction of the heart" (yeah I got a soft spot for "we are the world" tpye songs sometimes) "if u beleive" "I would do anything" (one of my favs) "sweet reunion" "too early for the sun" (love the synclaviers on this cut. Gorgeous. This song is the bees knees. Mavis staples cameos on this) [Edited 7/18/05 9:34am]
