Offshoots from famous bands Side projects and offshoot bands and follow-on bands get a raw deal - they are always judged in the shadow of the bigger bands.
So, let's hear it for some of your faves, big them up! Just so you know what I mean (and I am not saying I am a fan of any of these, but just as an illustration) Rolling Stones - Keith Richards and/or Bill Wyman solo work Aerosmith - Joe Perry solo GnR - Slash's Snakepit etc etc

I knew a very odd person once who saw Bruce Kulick at a guitar fair and flew a paper airplane at him with the words "You're fucking shit, mate" written on it. Anyway, moving on....thanks for the reply! Any more..? I happen to love the work created by Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and Bernard Sumner (New Order) as "Electronic". My fave offshoot band, and one that always, always suffered from comparisons in the press to their original bands.

Brian May's Star Fleet Project with Eddie Van Halen was cool.
Infectious Grooves was a side project for members of several different bands, including Jane's Addiction, Suicidal Tendencies. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

It was an EP; I think four songs. Star Fleet was (is?) a British TV show (for kids?). The title track was a cover of the show's theme song. There are a few other tunes on the EP, inlcuding a killer blues tribute to the Blues Breakers. It is an awesome collection; lot's of great guitar work. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Siouxsie And The Banshees:
The Creatures (Siouxsie and Budgie) - 4 studio albums (plus several live/remix/EPs/compilation releases) The Glove (Steven Severin and Robert Smith) - one studio album Steven Severin - several solo albums You might also say the Banshees were an offshoot of The Sex Pistols as Severin and Sioux appeared with the Bromley Contingent behind the Pistols on their infamous appearance on the 'Today' programme in 1976. Sid Vicious was the Banshees' first drummer.

As taken from allmusic.com
Eric Clapton By the time Eric Clapton launched his solo career with the release of his self-titled debut album in mid-1970, he was long established as one of the world's major rock stars due to his group affiliations — the Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, and Blind Faith — affiliations that had demonstrated his claim to being the best rock guitarist of his generation. That it took Clapton so long to go out on his own, however, was evidence of a degree of reticence unusual for one of his

Duran Duran:
which led to Arcadia (Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, Roger Taylor) and The Power Station (John Taylor, Andy Taylor, Robert Palmer, and Tony Thompson of Chic) in the mid - 80's. There were other offshoots solo wise with John Taylor and Andy Taylor "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
