More Sad News: Ray Davis (RIP) of Parliament Funkadelic Raymond "Ray" Davis (born March 29, 1940) bass/baritone singer in the Parliaments, Parliament and Funkadelic, passed away last night in New Jersey(apparently there were complications from chemotherapy which resulted in a blood clot. Ray was also briefly in The Temptations, (filling in for Melvin Franklin), during the mid-1990s. He had more recently performed in The Original P, along with many other members of Parliament.
I'm gonna miss those deep intonations: "Where'd you get that Funk from?" ("OOh, Who was that?") Rest in Peace, Ray...

Damn! This really bums me out. He was fantastic and did not let his ego or any bad blood get in the way of him continuing to perform with the P-Funk All-Stars long after most of the other original Parliaments were fed up with George. He added so much to so many classic P-Funk tunes. Who could imagine Atomic Dog without his bow wow wow yippee yo yippee yay?! Rest in peace, my brother.

I'm just starting to deal with Luther being gone..
& NOW THIS??? DAMN. Ray was ALL ABOUT THE FUNK.. all his solid work with the P-FUNK MOB, NOT TO MENTION his work with ZAPP/ROGER, especially his low voiced "I can make you dance.." heaven is getting FUNKIER every day now.. I'll see you tonight..
