The song, not the album. Though feel free to chat about the album as well.

All I know is, that solo at the end of the song shoulda been about 20 minutes longer. stoned

Human emotions personified by the colors of the rainbow.
Maybe Hendrix at his best lyrically based on the technicolor imagery the song invokes.
It's quite fitting that this was the final cut on what was an Jazzy-Funky-R&B based album.

The phased drums and guitar solo.

A small clue to the sound of the psychedelic masterpiece that was around the corner - Electric Ladyland.
