90's. I grew up listening to those infatuating club jams like Ace of Base and Aqua. Those songs bring back feelings that I used to have when I was a kid.
"I like to move it-move it..i like to MOVE IT." "I'm a barbie girl,in a barbie world.life in plastic,it's fantastic" "This is your night, dancing free until the morning light, together forever cuz this your night" and the Macarena!

The 70s and 80s. Childhood was the best time of my life. I miss those carefree days. True soulful music was still being made at that time as well.

70s - The Isleys were supreme then! Not just them, but there was a lot of great soul music then. In some ways, the soul/R&B of the 80s was more fun, but it was more inventive, progressive and complex in the 70s. I can't see how anybody can be a fan of these so-called neo-soul artists and not listen to the artists that inspired them.

agreed. These decades were during the time when music was still creative and radio was less formated.

I cannot chose among the 60's, 70's and 80's. I like so much music from each of those decades that I can't make a decision in favor of just one.

I like the 70's, 80's and 90's all about the same, but I have a special place in my heart for the 90's cuz it was my musical coming of age.

i think i'd have to say the '70s, because technology was coming along just enough to get people experimenting with new sounds, but it hadn't come along quite enough yet to allow musicians to get too lazy.

A decade is 10 years, so my favorite would be 1975-1985 because of funk, disco, new wave, and outrageousness. Everything was over the top and nothing was down to earth. Stars looked and acted like stars. [Edited 7/6/05 18:33pm] Andy is a four letter word.

The 80s. There is so many styles/genres to choose from. I was born in 1979, so I sorta grew up as the 80s did.

Some 70's, mainly 80's (C'mon, now... the Purple Reign!) I still mainly listen to 80's bands like The Cure, Bauhaus, Siouxsie, Morrissey, etc. The 80's also had Krush Groove and all the freestyle music and early LL Cool J, Run DMC. The 90's is special to me as well. That was my moody maturing stuff like Smashing Pumpkins and the cranberries while my angst with Nirvana and Hole. Although I also appreciate music from all decades, there's no need to lie, it's the 60s for me.
The R&B of Motown, Stax, Atlantic, etc. The Jazz on the radio. The Gospel on the radio. The British Invasion. The beginnings of ROCK (not just Rock&Roll but ROCK!) on FM radio. James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, Sly Stone, Marvin Gaye, The Beatles, The Supremes, The Rolling Stones, Curtis Mayfield, Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald and on and on. Just a wide open time for music and where the foundation was laid for most of what you hear today that's considered Pop/Funk/R&B/Rock/Gospel. And I didn't need the Internet to "look for good music". All I needed was this... ...and a supply of 9-volt batteries. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. The 80's. I have too much music from teh 80's.
The synths, the drum programming, they werent scared to venture out in2 musical oblivion. Today, the kids are calling Missy's Lose Control" "Unique" and "Different". Why that's jsut 80's ELECTRO. They don't know and havent known anything about experimentation and funky ass breakbeatin' jams. I wish more artists and producers would bring back them big snares and funky ass synths. Thirty years from now when people are asked this question they might say this decade. I like this decade because I like to hear music that has been influenced by music I grew up on. I also can't wait to hear what is next and in my opinion, although I may be outnumbered on this site, is that music is getting better and better every year. It might not be as easy to find as a transistor radio but if you look hard enough, it is there.

I think on the R&B / Rap side as long as there are good producers whith influences from the 80's and keep on makin it modern...it is better than 5 years ago. It just started gettin better once soul samplings from the 70's came out again..better this time. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Yep, I totally agree with VC. I love music from all of these decades, so I can't pick just one. I will say that music from the 90's pretty much sucked and so does 90% of rap/hip/hop that's popular today.

even though the 80s and 90s was basically a soundtrack to my life and i was born in '74, my favorite decades are the 60s and 70s. i especially love 70s soul music. i am so enamored with curtis mayfield music during this time its a shame. even the movies like superfly, claudine, sparkle, coffy, etc, etc.
