What's the next album release you're looking forward to?

I'm chomping at the bit for the 3CD/1DVD Iggy Pop box set coming out in July, and I'm also anxiously awaiting the import copy of the new St. Etienne album I ordered this week (I thought it was coming out domestically a couple weeks ago - alas, this was not the case).

OK, your turn now.

The Saint Etienne album is on my radar as well, though I'm holding out for the North American release that's bound to come (isn't it???).

Otherwise, there are new albums from Rodney Crowell and the Fall coming up later this summer, and both of those will be automatic purchases for me.

i'm sure there'll be a north american release of the new St.Et. album, but i don't know when it's going to be, and i don't know if it's going to include the bonus disc of kid's songs, which i'm really really curious to hear. i just went ahead and plunked down twenty bucks online - i found a good deal at a place that didn't charge shipping - and hopefully i'll have my copy in a week or two. they've always been in my top ten all-time faves, so it's worth it to me.

So that's what this bonus disc is - that's...not what I was expecting in the least, but it is intriguing. I wonder - are they doing standards or originals?

My curiousity level has risen, but the cheapo in me is holding out.

I am looking forward to this 2-disc set of unreleased material (mostly) from Fountains of Wayne (June 28th). They don't get a lot attention on the org, but I have been impressed with this band's pop sensibilities. Their one "hit," Stacey's Mom, was a sophmoric tune for the suburban crowd that, imo, underminded the band's credibility. Nevertheless, Foutains of Wayne works well in many different musical styles, the result of which is a diverse collection of very solid pop-rock songs.

I completely agree, barring the fact I actually like Stacy's Mom. I hate that it's the song that's now identified with this band, though. It cheapens them, really, because they're just some lame 1-hit band with a sexy video in the eyes of the public.

Welcome Interstate Managers and their first album are tremendous records, up there with anything Big Star, Matthew Sweet, Marshall Crenshaw or any other pure pop revivalist ever did.

there/they're/their edit. quite embarrassing.

I like that title better than "Defying Gravity" (btw, with a name out that early, I'm doubting it's true). Madonna's "The Library" coming out.....

I read that it come out in September. I can't wait. Apparently the first single is kind of glam rock.
