2 Many DJs/Mash-Up Bootlegs Okay, fess up - who else is into the craze of mash-up bootlegs?
For those of you who don't know, it's a recent DJ/club phenomenon where two songs are spliced together into a new hybrid of the two. For example, one of the most popular mash-ups is a brilliant mix of Nirvana and Destiny's Child called "Smells Like Booty". I've also heard mash-ups blending The Cure and Missy Elliot, Iggy Pop and Salt-n-Pepa, The Strokes and Christina Aguilera and Eminem with Depeche Mode. Strange bedfellows, but believe it or not, it works - the blend of Iggy and Salt-n-Pepa is one of the sexiest things I've heard in a long time. Seems like compilations of these songs are more available in the U.K. than in the States - all the comps I've found so far have been imports, and I'm not even going to contemplate how these things get distributed...I can hear the lawsuits growling already... | |

I do alot of those type of mixes at parties...the simplest type of mix to do if you can beat match. acapella from one song over the beat from another. here's some of my latest creations, if anyone's interested, holla at me.
acapella is listed first, followed by what the groove is. 2Pac "changes" -- Outkast "elevators (ONP mix)" Isley Bros "Contagious" -- Notorious BIG "Kick In the Door" Michael Jackson "Smooth Criminal" -- Dr. Dre "What's the difference" Dr. Dre "Still DRE" -- Snoop Dogg "Lay Low" Christina Agulira "Genie in a Bottle -- 2Pac "California Love (rmx)" Eminem "The Way I Am" -- Cypress Hill "Illusions (remix)" Shannon "Let the Music Play" -- Dr. Dre "Fuck Wit Dre Day" Alliyah (R.I.P.) "Are you that somebody" -- Dr. Dre "Forgot about Dre" Insane Clown Posse "Chicken Huntin" -- 2Pac "California Love (original) Dr. Dre "Forgot about Dre" -- D-12 "Purple Pills" As you can see I've been in a Dre mood lately, but that's more the parties I've been spinning at. I'm sure most of you hate the songs I listed but whatever. The mixes of this type that I do aren't computer generated gimmick mixes. These were all done live on the spot. I usually run tapes of my live spins, so I probably have most of these somewhere. It's late, sorry I rambled on so long. Peace.
