Some see a funeral as a celebration and not something where you should mourn. I wore red at my mother's funeral in honor of her lively attitude.

I've seen people wear all kinds of colors to funerals. I don't think it's considered tacky anymore, especially when you view it as a celebration (of sorts) of someone's life. Patti looks great to me smile

Also, look @ the roses around the casket - it could have been Luther's favorite color. We don't know... y'all quit trippin lol

hmmm Alright maybe I'll give ya that. I will have to consult one of my buddies who are Luther fans to verify that yellow is his favorite color as you said.

Well, I am going to keep it real. Eventhough yellow was Luther's favorite color and shit, in my opinion, I felt she still should've worn all black out of respect with a yellow flower attached to her outfit and thats just my twocents.

That was a very classy funeral. It matched Luther's class, sophistication and style. He will be sorely missed. Seeing that casket brings the finality home. Good Bless you Luther and thank you for brightening so many days and loves in my life.

OK... now I know I'm really late on this one, but I just now had the chance to get to my PC and see what everyone has been saying about Luther.

I was in my car with my mother last Friday when I heard the news and was so deeply shaken that I had to pull over. I remember my parents blasting Luther's music every Saturday morning while we cleaned the house when I was little. He meant so much to myself and my parents (whose relationship was filled with his music from the very beginning to the end when my father passed away in '02). His song "Dance With My Father" spoke volumes to me when it was released-- it was like he was singing my feelings. The last thing I want to say is that Luther's death was a huge blow to the music industry which is slowly filling up with a bunch of nobody's who won't be remembered or missed once they're gone. Luther was one of the greats and he'll truly be missed.

sigh

One Of These Things (Is Not Like The Others)

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?
If you guessed this one is not like the others,
Then you're absolutely...right!

Three of these things belong together
Three of these things are kind of the same
Can you guess which one of these doesn't belong here?
Now it's time to play our game (time to play our game).

Three of these kids belong together
Three of these kids are kind of the same
But one of these kids is doing his (her) own thing
Now it's time to play our game
It's time to play our game.

Well its really about how you want to celebrate the life of your friend or family member. I didn't wear black at my mother's funeral. I was like "big up, mom ain't sick no mo!"

I think she knew her friend and wore something she knew he would be happy with.
