fell asleep last night
And I dreamed the night
and almost half the day away
I just got up so that
I can hear her say
She's still in love
and no one can take her love away
Ooo love wakes me up everyday
And I thought no one
would ever make me feel this way
It feels me up everytime
I hear her say
She's still in love
and no one will take her love away
I wanna be love

There's nothing better than love
What in the world
could you ever be thinking of
It's better by far
So let yourself reach for that star
And go no matter how far
To the one you love
To love

And I mean all these words I said
And you don't have to guess
what's going on inside me head
Just try to know
All the things that our heart says
Listen to love and always
get love to lead the way
Whenever you love

You know for love
I'd go anywhere
I would go there
For love to the end of nowhere
And for your love
(And for your love)
I would,
I would
I would love
To just spend all my time
With a girl who makes me
feel her love is mine
Someone you see
Who would only dream of me
And she be in love
just because she wanna be
She wanna be loved

That book was awesome. I got to see Luther in a different way and I found out a lot of things that I didn't know about him, the work he did and with who. A great book IMO.

My X called and said well our baby maker is dead. eek I said Dr Malik passed away?

Weird call....

Anyway I had the opportunity to see him live 5 years ago. He really worked an audience..... I enjoyed his work as an artist very much. House is not a home is an amazing piece of work.

I've been listening to Luther Vandross for most of my life.In the fall of 1981,my mother bought his debut album 'Never Too Much'.This album was played constantly in our household.Every song is a classic....the title track,"Sugar And Spice (I Found Me A Girl)","Don't You Know That",his hit remake of "A House Is Not A Home" and my favorite track,"You Stopped Loving Me".This is one of the most impressive R&B albums of 1981,and I knew that Luther would become a superstar. His voice, the melodies, the lyrics.....this guy was an absolute genuis! His songs just mesmerize you,and make you want to be in love.

In my opinion,Luther has never made a bad album.I have all of his albums and I enjoy every single one of them.My all-time favorite Luther song is "Make Me A Believer",an incredible track from his 1983 album 'Busy Body'.I started a thread about this song awhile back. When I hear this song,it takes me to another place.Dreamy and hypnotic.Luther had that magical ability.Nobody could sing a love song like Luther.Just listen to gems like "So Amazing","Love Me Again","There's Nothing Better Than Love","Because It's Really Love","If Only For One Night/Creepin","Any Love","I Want The Night To Stay","Little Miracles (Happen Everyday)" and numerous others. That is genuine soul music, full of drama, passion and emotion. Not that silly, ridiculous R.Kelly crap.

It's impossible for me to imagine a world without Luther Vandross.Thankfully,we still have his amazing music that will love on forever.I'm just so depressed right now sad

nod, you summed up Luther's legacy and his ability to impact your heart and soul. I highly doubt we will see the likes of Vandross again. sad

All weekend and even today lots of Luther is being played. My mom and lots of her friends are taking especially hard. I'm sad as well, and initially shocked because the updates earlier this year seemed to show him on the road to recovery, but for months I hadn't heard anything.

Definitely a huge void that can't be replaced. I saw him in concert in the mid-late 80's with my mom. I want to say it was my first concert ever. He definitely left an impression on me.

I heard this morning that the viewing will be held tomorrow and Thursday in NY, and the funeral will be on Friday. One radio station wasn't sure if the viewing will be one or two days, and another said two.

Either way, fans and colleagues alike will be sharing and showing the love for Luther this week. sad

I never got a chance to see Luther live. As a 14 year old girl, I had tickets to see DeBarge and left the show before Luther came on. I didn't fully appreciate the man until I was an adult. I was listening to the radio on Friday and heard them discussing him and I thought they were talking about him because he was getting better but then the guy broke down. I thought "Oh my God". I was and continue to be heartbroken. I spoke to a fellow Orger the other night about Luther and said that the best thing was Luther got his love from all of us when he was still here. Too many people, famous and not, go unappreciated until too late. I couldn't listen to his music Friday and Saturday, it was played at the restaurant I was at and it was painful.

My favorite Luther song will forever be You Stopped Loving Me and some day I'll play it in loving memory. There will never be another voice on the planet like his.

sadly...it seems it takes someone to die for radio to play their music. not to be insensitive here, but i swear i heard three prince songs in a row yesterday (4th of July) and the first thing thought was that something happened to him

I was very saddened by this news and I am still emotional while I write this. I grew up listening to the man I called "Lufa Andross". (I could not pronounce his name correctly as a child). My friend called me at work Friday night and said "Lufa's Gone"! and I could not believe it. I digress... Luther will be very sorely missed in my heart, but at least now he can Dance with his Father again! The Choir in Heaven just got one of the Best Tenor/Baritones that ever graced us with his presence here on Earth. Luther was and still is one of the best soul singers that ever lived!! I can say that whenever he put out an album, I went straight to the store to buy it, and I was never disappointed. I only do that for one other artist- Prince. There is and never will be another Luther Vandross! My condoleces go out to his family, especially his Mother, Ms Mary Ida Vandross. angel star God Bless U Lufa!!!
I'm back!!!!!!!

SquirrelMeat: nothing you can say can cover up the stench of what you originally said. The fact that you would use the words "fat f---" in contempt of a dead man's physical condition, notwithstanding the legacy he left behind, is crass.

I thought you were better than that.

Of all the soul ballad singers I used to listen to in Jr. High & High School (James Ingram, Jeffrey Osbourne, Billy Ocean, Whitney, etc.), Luther is the only one I still really like.

A tribute to Luther Vandross was just shown on BET/ 1AM est. time.

A collection of old/newer video's...

I would have recorded it, however it was not listed on my Digital cable guide...since Luther just passed. Spur of the moment I guess...

For the New Yorkers: I found out that NY1 News will be showing Luther's funeral at 3pm today in it's entirety. Apparently they showed it live yesterday and if you missed it or didn't get a chance to see it, it will be back on again for you. It's a blessing that they didn't mourn. It looked like they were genuinely celebrating Luther and his life. Praise God for that.

I'm curious - was a reason given as to why the casket was closed??
did anyone hear anything about this??

I saw some news reports about this last night on tv, it looks like everyone there had a great time.. & that's really how it should be at a home-going service..

OF COURSE a person is very sad & upset when a family member or spouse or partner or close friend leaves this earth..
but this is mainly because this person reacts to the loss that THEY (the individual person) experience..
the person who has gone on.. for people like me who belive in God & in heaven..
we know that Luther IS in a much better place..!

it IS still our loss, though, & we honor the memory of those who have gone on by continuing to live the best life we can - giving of ourselves to others, doing & adding good, positive & beautiful things to the world -

just like Luther did.
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..
