Yeah! That's what I meant by the breathing... "Make It Happen" was really good though!

She sounded strained on "Hero". Now we get WBT. Let's see if they let her synch the last note.
[Edited 7/2/05 13:56pm]

Yeah, Mariah sounded like she had breathing problems on Hero. WBT was not as bad as the BET's; it's just that "upper register" that sounds a little screechy and forced. But it was a WAY better performance than the BET awards.

Ya know, I gotta hand it to Mariah coz she tries so hard to please or at least to me she appears that she does.

Nice job, Mariah.

i thought Mariah sounded fantastic, and i am definitely not a fan of hers. She put on a good, heart-felt performance. kudos!

MTV completely blows it for any fan of rock (well actually for all the coverage), but they didn't show Velvet Revolver, they're showing Maroon 5 when Jet is on in Canada, and they didn't show Def Leppard either.
I guess we probably won't get to see Motley Crue or any clips of Audioslave either. Fucking loser bastards!!! Mtv has completely lost it.
If I want your opinion, I'll beat it outta ya!

^^ sorry lyricsdaddy.. sounds like they are mainly broadcasting Philly today. Jet is wicked.

Same thing with CTV and the Canadian stage... I guess everyone has to represent home first. shrug

Well, at least they're showing SOMETHING from Velvet Revolver, now. Maybe ABC will have a decent overview tonight (they're running from 8 - 10)

They kinda talked through Audioslave and cut it short. They did "Like a Stone"....and it's kinda sad that artists like Audioslave seem to actually care about important causes like this and MTV does this to them.

Ah man!!! Did they perform in Philly coz I've been watching the London broadcast on AOL, then switching over... I have MTV turned on the background.
Damn!!! If Audioslave performed in London, I don't know how I missed em, but I did. sad

About Madonna, I think that I might be more of a fan now. eek biggrin I thought she was really great!!! I thought Mariah was really wonderful. Alicia's voice was good, but I didn't see her outfit. I missed Will Smith and Velvet Revolver.

And I friggin missed Audioslave. sad So they performed in Berlin, earlier today. Oh well.

Pink Floyd is supposed to be up next in London.

Live8 Obversations...

*When will the directors understand that you shoot a live performance diffently than a music video?

If it were me, i'd consider a split-screen broadcast.
A full stage shot across the top of the screen.
(to maintain the continuity of the performance)
The bottom half would consist of 2 screens.
The 1st would be a tight shot of the main performer(s).
The 2nd would begrudingly be devoted to the goofy shots they seem so addicted to.
(swirling overhead crowd shots, drummer clicking sticks over his head, etc.)

Def Leppard does have a bass player disbelief

*Don't assume the viewer knows the band's name that's playing. (webcast)

Especially since you've got an international viewing audience.
It's nice to know who you're listening to.
The individual city tabs (to the left of the viewing scteen) don't automatically update.
(at least mine didn't without manually refreshing the screen)

*Why did Joss Stone give me the impression that she was doing her best Beyonce visually but vocally she's still quite immature?

*Why was I unlucky enough to catch a shot of Paris Hilton (with that same goofy look on her face) during Velvet Revolver's set?

*The rockier dual-guitar lineup gives a much ballsier Sting sound. My favorite performance so far. thumbs up!

* Randy "Dawg" Jackson picks up the bass for Mariah thumbs up!
Although obviously struggling, she didn't sound that bad on the 1st 2 songs.
It looks like she can't catch her breath. Maybe some aerobics are in order.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

All for now.
