Sorry guys but in my opinion Amerie sounds no better than J. Lo I know you guys think she's the hottest thing on the planet but do you really think her voice is so great? Let's be honest!

To me J.Lo has one of THE worst voices out right now for three reasons: it's weak, it has a discordant nasal quality and she sings off key. It's a lose/lose/lose situation.

IMO, Amerie may not have a great voice but she sounds better than J.Lo.

Weak-ass by Motown standards means stronger than anything today. All that shit was live and organic. Amerie is a studio product. No comparison.

*imagines Amerie attempting "Love Child" or "My World Is Empty Without You"* falloff

Yeah I like diana's voice dont get me wrong. It has style, personality, but it needs to be covered in good production (or disco) in order to be any good (motown are the kings of that)

Latoya ripped her completely.

Ok, I hate to break it to you, thesexofit, but I seriously doubt you are schooled in anything beyond maybe Diana's most successful solo album and a few Supremes hits. Have you ever bothered to listen to live recordings of The Supremes or Diana herself? You couldn't "cover up" a bad voice with good production alone back then, you know.

Of course I have. I like one or two tracks, but I am not a fan of her 80's output, with a few exceptions.

I'd tap her ass in a delciciously naughty way! boff As a singer though, she has a really thin voice, and when I saw her on BET's Spring Bling, she didn't even try very hard to lipsynch, let alone sing mediocre at best. rolleyes Unfortunately, if she keeps this up, she will be forgotten in no time.

You're absolutely right about that. They sound very much a like. Did the same person produce those 2 songs?

Honestly I think "1 thing" is a hot song but if Amerie looked like Aunt Jemima would people think her voice was all that? I don't think so. she's a very beautiful woman therefore everyone thinks she's the new Diana Ross. The boss doesn't have the greatest voice either but there's something going for it unlike Amerie's nasal way of singing. I really don't think vocally that she's any better than J. Lo She sounds like she's really struggling to hit those high notes.

Rich Harrison produced both, yes. He also produced "Pops Up!", an unreleased Janet song that sounds a lot like both 1 Thing and Get Right. Janet had the sense not to release hers, though.
