If all you hear is Jimi when you hear Prince you aren't listening. Besides, everybody has influences. Jimi is indebted to the blues and R&B musicians before him, Prince to Jimi and many others, and Lenny to Prince among others. (Actually I don't hear a lot of Prince in Lenny).

Anyway, there's room enough for all of them and Prince would still be Prince without Jimi just with a different twist.

And for the record I prefer Jimi as a musician/artist over any other if I had to pick so you're not gonna hear me bash him to make Prince or anybody else look better.

Those SAME exact points have been made by me and several others on here in the past regarding this, so, it ain't nothing for u to clue us in on, player. I never said that when I listened to Prince, all I hear is Jimi. U would never see me print some silly ass shit like that. So, your "school in session" is not needed regarding this.


Who were you quoting when you said Prince has "built a career biting off Jimi"? Then you go on to imply his only contribution is men wearing high heels. Surely you wouldn't be here if that were true. My only point is that people are reacting to your statements and vice-versa. I just threw in that part about each musician having their influences as a bonus. wink Class dismissed. razz

Actually, I guess I'm re-enrolling my self. smile He was right about Prince holding the keys to anything so his joke about the high-heels was on target. I stand by the rest of what I said-- not that any of it really matters. shrug

first of all brah noone and we know no one(except eddie hazel, stevie ray vaughn, muddy, buddy, the kings, collins, carlos santana) owns the keys to what hendrix did. cause some 40 years after his death we still cant figure out what the fuck that man was doin cause he was so far ahead of his time. the only comparison we got between the 2 is that like jimi we still playin catch up 2 what prince did 26 years ago some 26 years later

Ok Diamond now, you are mentioning some crucial players in the game like Eddie Hazel and Steve Ray Vaughn. Now, these are some cats who came close to imitating Jimi's note's but couldn't quite duplicate them.You forgot to add another bad player that doesn't get his just do which is Jesse Johnson.

Actually at the end of the day, nobody has been able to duplicate the sounds that Jimi put down. Let's face it, Jimi was one bad muthafucka so like you saying guirtarist got some catching up to do.

the only beef I got with Lenny is he canceled two shows I went to, I been to eight P concerts, not one cancellation, otherwise Lenny is a bad cat, he dont compare to P on guitar, but who does?, he may be influenced by other musicians, but who isnt?, why all the Lenny haters?
