I was listening to a recent show from Lenny's current tour and when he announced his background singers the 1st one was Tawatha Agee. For those that don't know she was a member of Mtume think Juicy Fruit or You, Me, & He, and you know the voice that I am talking about. Glad to see she's still active!

If all you hear is Jimi when you hear Prince you aren't listening. Besides, everybody has influences. Jimi is indebted to the blues and R&B musicians before him, Prince to Jimi and many others, and Lenny to Prince among others. (Actually I don't hear a lot of Prince in Lenny).

Anyway, there's room enough for all of them and Prince would still be Prince without Jimi just with a different twist.

And for the record I prefer Jimi as a musician/artist over any other if I had to pick so you're not gonna hear me bash him to make Prince or anybody else look better.
