All we can do know is hope that Whitney is able to stop going down the Liza Minilli path and pray that she can rebound like Natalie Cole. However for her to change her life around like Natalie did, she will have to get rid of any dead weights that are bringing her down . I remember, in the early days of Whitney's career, there were very strong rumours that she was a lesbian and was having a relationship with her personal assistant (to the point where Whitney even acknowledged these rumours and denied them in an interview). You never heard of her being linked with a man. Then the lesbian rumours reached fever-pitch and - wham! - she's with Bobby Brown.

If these rumours were true, maybe all the drugs are her way of dealing with her issues?
