im gonna say Smith....they created some memorable and catchy tunes on their own...

were as Hammer's hits relied too much on sampling extremely large amounts of other songs...sure, Smith has relied on that for his too..but like i said, they at least have hits that didnt need "extreme" samples...

im sorry, "You Cant Touch This" isnt a hit for Mc Hammer..Its a hit for Rick James...

Thank you!

Hammer was a great dancer and a nice guy, but the main reason I couldn't take him (or piff doody for that matter) is the enormous sampling they would do. Write your own stuff, dammit; stop bitin'!

Well, Rick already had hits and was rich as fuck eventhough he had acquired the tragic drug flaw habits of alot of rock stars. Basically, all Hammer did was give Rick even more popularity and money by sampling his music.

If you notice, it wasn't long after the "U Can't Touch This" craze, that Rick got into trouble and went to prison. Rick had made so much money off of Hammer that he could afford to get higher than ever before, which led to trouble.

Hammer sampled Prince twice off one album. "soft and wet" for his version of "soft and wet" (not a bad track- its funny, something hammer lost in later years) and of course he sampled "when doves cry" for his huge ass hit "pray".

So yeah hammer likes Prince. Proberly asked him to be in his Jacko aping "too legit to quit" video. He recorded some of that album at paisley park.

Will smith sampled shit loads after the first couple of albums. I always preferred kid and play to fresh prince. Even "summertime" is a sample. As is "boom! shake the room" and ALL his other 90's hits. Smiths sampling is out of control.

And its MC Hammer not Mc hammer. Hammer ain't a scotsman u know laddie! lol
