July Bass Player: The Bassists of P-funk, Meshell N'degeocello ...
Sorry if this has been posted before, and I know it's late, but the July 2005 issue of Bass Player has Bootsy on the cover and the feature article is on "The Bassists of P-Funk" with photos and commentary from William "Bootsy" Collins, Richard Boyce, Billy "Bass" Nelson, Cordell "Boogie" Mosson, Rodney "Skeet" Curtis and Lige Curry...the issue also includes a nice article on Meshell Ndegeocello and her Spirit Music Jamia Ensemble, with info on their album: Dance Of The Infidel... ... As soon as I read your post, I left my office and went to the magazine room and snagged the issue.
Just got to the Bootsy section in the chronology and had to print this quote... My band, the House Guests, was playing at the Love Club, where I met a girl who told me I had to connect with George because we dressed and sounded similar. She took me to George's house where he was sitting in the Buddha pose wearing a sheet and looking crazy and all spaced out on acid. I was like, Wow! This is the cat I want to be with, because that was the kind of freedom I wanted. ... tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm [Edited 6/27/05 14:41pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all." | |
