since this summer, everybody seems to have been going mad on her. when i cam to this rog, a lot of ppl. said she was a 2 hit ownder or she was exaggerated. his weekened, i had the opprotunity to listen to her whole album and to say i am disappointed. her labum did not live up to my expectations. i was really surpirsed that for soemone who knows how to create music by using a paino and a guiatr, she sucked. i dont know hwo tplay naything and i would suck even if i tried. but i have more better ideas i think. i played her songs but i kept skipping but they got tooo boring. her lryics weren't that great as ppl. said. and she keeps doing ' what? and shit!' thing in her songs. mj's "hee-heeh and awow seem better! i wouldn't have given this album 5 grammys. it si really a 2 star or at most 3 star album.

I listened to her album way before she received all the recognition. In the beginning(first 15 minutes), I liked it...then I found myself asking, "Is she still singing the same song?" It sounded so monotonous(but then the title should have told me--Songs in A-minor-.). I know she can come out with something much better, I've not given up on her, yet. She won some world music award the other nite. I hate that for her. With all the awards, she may not believe she needs to step up.

I can't count the number of times I've listened to an album and been totally indifferent towards it only to find months down the line that I love it.

However, rarely have I ever listened to an album that I initially hated and had it grow on me. Alicia Keys' album falls into the category of albums I hate. Mind you, this is not an indictment of the artist. I happen to think she's tremendously talented and perhaps once she's more in control of her musical direction (rather than Clive Davis), we'll see her realize her musical promise rather than just her commercial one.

This is merely a case of an overhyped debut. Her album was decent for a new young artist who included songs she wrote when she was 15 years old. Five grammies? Why didn't India.Arie get at least one of hose?

shes not that bad lol i started listening to her music when she got big in the US (a friend recommended her, i live in the uk so i'd never heard of her b4 that) and i really liked the album, but after she got big here everyone was going on about how unique and brilliant she was, i do think she is very over rated at the moment. but she is a good artist, besides this is her debut album. i only like a few tracks but i wouldnt shrug the whole album off on just one listen.
