there seems to be a large number of hetero-challenged backup dancers. but they can't all be gay, right? not that there's anything wrong with that ...so who are the strickly poonanny ones and who likes the skin flute?

Nah... they can't be all gay, otherwise they'd have stopped reproducing years ago.

at the recent kylie gig in glasgow i'd say they were all gay !!!!

This is an interesting topic, for me anyway. It’s been my experience, that some gay dancers might be real open about their lifestyles, but just don’t appreciate being “outed” through speculation on the internet or elsewhere. The “backup” dancer/ music video market in particular is highly competitive, so there is a certain about of “typing-out” for parts that occurs. In fact, sometimes an image or a look is just as or maybe even more important than dance ability. So SOME of these dancers might be obviously out, but still DON’T discuss their sexual orientation just as some actors, musicians, singers, etc, prefer to keep it private as possible. It can be quite a sensitive and delicate issue.

Suffice to say, SOME backup dancers are gay, but then some are very HETERO. Also, sometimes, the dancers that APPEAR to be gay AREN’T, and vice-versa. It’s really difficult to tell from their dancing alone coz they are ALWAYS trying to adapt to specific style of choreography.

Not many gay guys did the running man did they? They were all vogueing instead.

Anyway, debbie gibson, paula abdul, madonna, janet most female stars do seem to have gay backup dancers. Hammer didn't though. Ha, oaktown 357 would never of been seen vogueing.

I see what paisley is saying though. Its a stereotype. A sad one for people like me, wo do love to dance.
