Are U Shpongled?

I need to introduce you all to probably the best electronic music has to offer...SHPONGLE.

I just got their latest "Nothing Lasts...but nothing is lost". This thier first offering in about 3 years. It was VERY anticipated by those that like them. The thing is you will probably NEVER hear them out. Most likely someone will just tell you about them.

Primarily a duo...SImon Postford, who pretty much runs the label Twisted and help produce many acts out where he is...and Raja Ram probably some old hippie who lays out the melodies and plays the flute. The music ranges from ambient to organic to "trance" to world beat to.... Touches of indian and spanish and otherworldly sounds eminate from within. It is certainly nothing you've heard before yet is not wierd or unlistenable. It's actually very pretty and complex. Also it's hard to categorize...extremly electronic, yet has elements of guitar and vocals and live percussion and flute.

If you like electronic music...I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting them or seeking them out. They only have 3 disks out. All of them are exceptional.

Went to their site and listened to some samples. Very nice sounds.
I preferred the ambient/world music based pieces vs the more techno stuff.

Scanning the equipment list, it once again goes to show that you don't need state of the art equipment to make decent sounding recordings if you've got talent.

Nice quote on the Hallucinogen webpage...

"It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception".

Albert Einstein, speaking about his theory of relativity.

thumbs up!

Never thought I'd see Shpongle mentioned on the org!
I'm a fan too.

Raja Ram was a member of London Hippy group 'Quintessence' who put out several albums in the early 70s (check out the compilation 'Epitaph for Tomorrow' for their best tracks).

He's also a founder of electronic music label TIP. I'd highly recommend the TIP compilation CD 'Spaceships of the Imagination' as an introduction.
It's one of my favourite ambient/psych albums and features a couple of tracks by Shpongle.

OMG! omfg

Certianly did not think anyone would have heard of them. Yes TIP label is very good. Twisted, though is one of my favorites. Very good quality comes out of that label, Though quite a bit has that "sound" that is an indicator of the studio it came from.
