Get Here is a great album from start to finish. Her version of the title track is way better than Oleta Adams rendition IMO.

I love this song, Ms. Russell is so underated. It's funny that you would say that this is your favorite song by a "black person" I don't think R&B radio stations played this song. The frist time I heard it was on a adult comtemporay station.

Ray Charles..lol! i'm not kidding. they play that song every other day on the smooth jazz station here..i'm not hatin' on ray now..but it does kinda get to me when i hear some of the lyrics and i start laughing to myself. some visuals i DON'T need. song's ok though.

When I find myself watching the time
I never think about all the funny things you said I feel like it's dead Where is it leading me now I turn around in the still of the room Knowing this is when I'm gonna make my move Can't wait any longer And I'm feeling stronger but oh Just as I walk through the door I can feel your emotion It's pullin' me back Back to love you I know I'm caught up in the middle I cry just a little When I think of letting go Oh no, gave up on the riddle I cry just a little When he plays piano in the dark He holds me close like a thief of the heart He plays a melody Born to tear me all apart The silence is broken And no words are spoken but oh Just as I walk through the door I can feel your emotion It's pullin' me back Back to love you I know I'm caught up in the middle I cry just a little When I think of letting go Oh no, gave up on the riddle I cry just a little When he plays piano in the dark Space for sale...

sosgemini said: no fucking way is that about charles.... seriously? I don't believe that either. I've been a fan of Brenda Russell for years (and to Tom who said "Get Here" is a great album, you get a nod from me) and I've never heard that anywhere. The lyrics certainly don't allude to that at all. So where is the proof? Meanwhile, I love her work. I think she's a better writer than singer, but I like to hear her, especially when she does her own songs. Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.
