i take that statment back...her albums have been critically acclaimed...i think its her unusual name that might cause some problems....her 2002 album "Cookie: The Anthropological Mix Tape" has a rating of 81 out of 100 on the very good site metacritic

...i believe her 90s albums have also been highly praised, particuarly "peace beyond passion"...i will check them out

went to hmv in glasgow to check out some of her cds and they didnt have any!!!....her name wasnt even there....asked the guy behind the counter and (of course) he had never heard of her....she is not very big in the uk then but i will grab some on the internet

yup, i just checked itunes. if you have access to iTunes along with all of her studio albums they also have three different 'Meshell sampler' mini-EP downloads available each collecting small groups of different Meshell tunes that relate to a certain themes...the mini EPs are between 3.95 & 5.95 US dollars, the full albums are about 9 bucks.

its a link to a video stream of a mini in-studio casual jam/session of Meshell from a few years back...i think its a nice little intimate taste of one aspect of her style...they do three songs..."Earth" & "God Fear & Money" (from her album "Cookie: Anthropolocical Mixtape") and "Faithful" (from her album "Bitter")...like i said its a very casual and loose perfrmance, just her and her crew flowing through the tunes and enjoying themselves...but really its not too much different from how her live shows often are, very intimate, you can often really feel the band enjoying themselves on stage...and its contagious...
