SUPERSTAR PERFORMER AND SONGWRITER MARIAH CAREY TO SERVE AS EXCLUSIVE MUSICAL GUEST ON NBC'S ANNUAL MACY'S FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS ® SPECTACULAR, MONDAY, JULY 4th (9-10pm EST)

NBC and performer and songwriter Mariah Carey, the most successful female artist of all time, celebrate the nation's 229th birthday during the live broadcast of the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks® Spectacular, Monday, July 4th, 9-10 p.m. ET. For the first time ever the annual one-hour special will feature just one musical performer. Mariah Carey will perform chart-topping hits from her current album on Island Def Jam, The Emancipation of Mimi, combined with a stunning fireworks display. This marks NBC's sixth consecutive exclusive broadcast of the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks® Spectacular, and the first network telecast in High Definition.

Mariah Carey continues to reign supreme as The Emancipation of Mimi, now double platinum, continues to dominate in the top 5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Mariah secured her place as the #1 most successful female artist of all time when We Belong Together became her 16th song to top the Billboard Hot 100. This positions Mariah as the only active artist in contention to surpass the Beatles (with 20 No.1's) and Elvis Presley (18 No.1's) in the modern era. We Belong Together also set the all-time one-week Hot 100 radio audience record with over 192 million listeners nationwide.

The country's largest Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza will feature nearly 40,000 brilliant shells exploding over New York and New Jersey set to a sweeping original medley performed by The New York Pops under the direction of the legendary Skitch Henderson. The Macy's Fireworks also will include a special salute to our nation's Armed Forces, featuring firework shells never before seen in the U.S., and a dramatic salute to the Olympic Spirit.
