Grace Jones (for fun)

i can do without all the mainstream attention that the likes of madonna, cyndi lauper, beyonstank and the others heaped on us during their prime....

This can be confusing because so many artists have STYLISTS hired to make them fly.

An authentic style icon to me would be Cyndi Lauper, with her crazy-ass vintage looks.

nod Definitely alot of the artists from punk or post-punk that defined styles themselves (even though they would probably call themselves anti-fashion) should be included.

confuse Uh, hell yeah Marc Bolan! Bowie was really influenced by him. He's very underrated. nod Prince has also taken looks from him. Marc used to wear purple lame jackets (Prince 1999) and white fur coats (Prince SOTT) etc. He was pretty much the spearhead of the whole glam rock genre. The thing is, most people have never heard of him, mostly because of his untimely death and the fact that he was never really popular in the U.S. But his influence is undeniable, in both style and music.
