They've got a tight sound.
Bono is a clever lyricist whose words sometimes become poetic The Edge is a wonderful guitarist They get along They’re wonderful in concert They refuse to rest on their laurels and continue to put forth engaging, quality music Larry’s hot Kite, Out Of Control, Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own, North And South Of The River, Grace, Mercy, Yaweh, Beautiful Day, The Origin Of The Species, Staring At The Sun, Zoo Station, Ultra Violet, Where The Streets Have No Name, Red Hill Mining Town, Running To Stand Still, Sunday Bloody Sunday – this is just a modicum of the great music with which they’ve provided the world for a quarter of a century. co-sign cannot stand that guy for a second. I don't understand why people like them so much. Their music does nothing for me. They don't seem as cutting edge as some make them out to be, anyways,,,,,

I love U2's early albums. Anyone who tells you that U2 is not a New Wave/Post-Punk band is obviously an ignorant non-fan. Those first 2 albums, Boy and October will guaranteee to get your arms flailing like it was 1981.
I sooooo want to see them this fall. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I've gotten over being a U2 fan over the past few years, but I was listening to Boy the other day and I'll be damned if Out of Control doesn't remain one of my favorite songs. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

My favorite band of all time. They've done so much in the span of 25 years, and hopefully have much more on the horizon. Unlike so many of their peers, they never burnt out or faded into obscurity. They've remained true to their audience, maintained a close relationship with the fans, and released top-notch album after top-notch album. The day that U2 becomes a nostalgia act, touring only in support of old hits, will be the day that U2 breaks up. They still have something to say, and thankfully, still have the means to say it.
I think people forget just how daring albums like Achtung Baby or Zooropa were in the early '90s for U2. Instead of becoming just another 80's artifact, U2 emerged a completely differnt band. Following up Rattle and Hum with "The Fly" was a really ballsy move; and one that paid off. Unfortunately, the band seems less than fond of the "techno" period of their development, which saddens me because I think they reached their pinnacle at this point. The Achtung Baby, Zoo TV, Zooropa trilogy remains one of the coolest eras for a band in rock music. The band also remains completely dedicated to their causes, despite the naysayers that constantly follow the band around maligning their charitable work. I respect this more than anything else that they do. Also, U2 is so much more than their hits. Some of their best songs such as: Running to Stand Still, Kite, Dirty Day, In a Little While, Crumbs from Your Table, Acrobat, Bad, Like a Song, Stories for Boys, October, God Pt.2, Bullet the Blue Sky, Yahweh, Gone, Do You Feel Loved, Spanish Eyes, Slow Dancing, et. al were nothing more than album tracks or b-sides. Finally, U2 remains the consumate live act. They are in a category with the Stones as far as their touring reputation. Unlike the Stones, however, people still come to hear the new stuff; often it gets as big of a reception as the older songs. Unfortunately, the little snafu with the fan club seating gave the show some bad press, but the band showed exactly how dedicated they were to the hardcore fans when they corrected the situation. http://data.org/ http://www.one.org/ /end rant I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

There was a shift in their fan base when Joshua Tree dropped, some fans thought they sold out and those mostly like stuff pre-Joshua. A lot of their current fan base was acquired during that era though.

They still are around. They still sell out. They still are putting out good music. They still put on great shows. What else can you say they still got the touch. I saw them this year at the Continental Arena May 17. I was in the pit(I had one of the lucky tickets) it was an amazing show. I plan to see them when they come back in the fall. "U2 RULZES! "
