Full-grown hip-hop acts.

Thought I should take the time to list some 1980s hip hop acts that are full-grown now and still doin' rap. (Rap is somethin you do, hip hop is something you live)

still makin' hot shit:
-De La Soul
-Beastie Boys
-LL Cool J

to far lesser popularity:
-Public Enemy
-KRS One

where they at?
-Lyte
-Rakim

disqualified:
-Latifah

Yeah, I know the "Dana Owens LP" was atrocious, but wasn't homegirl supposed to couple that record with another rap studio album? There were talks of that early 2004, yet nothing to show for it.

Yo' Chuck is round'n 45 'but that has nothing to do with his passison for his art.. The Library of Congress names Fear Of A Black Planet as one of the 50 selected recorded works to be enshrined for preservation.

The Beastie Boys haven't made any hot shit since the early 90's. They need to take their asses to the nursing home and retire. Apologizing for "past indiscretions." Pfft! Idiots.

What I meant was their music is still way popular (especially compared to, say, new KRS One albums) to the general public.

Not completely relevant to the topic, but I miss the days of acts like this. I was just listening to EPMD this morning and reminded me (again) of the sad state of today's hip hop.

I just happened across some show on UPN called Half & Half. Lyte is in it in a recurring role. She looks good.

RipHer2Shreds, I've been listening to a CD mixed by DJ Revolution. I think you would like it. "Class of `85"
