I'm not an expert on the Cars, but back in my younger "Top 40 days" I was pretty much diggin' this one of course

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

One of my all-time fave bands. Have ALL of their albums. Ric Ocasek is a brilliant songwriter and Elliot Easton is a very talented and underrated guitarist. One of the few bands that were popular in the late 70's that were able to also become even more popular in the 80's. Had very catchy and smart videos as well. Some of my faves:

Dangerous Type
Just What I Needed - (One of the best debut songs ever by anyone)
Since You're Gone - (One of the most beautiful guitar solos by my boy Elliot Easton)
Let's Go
Tonight She Comes
Drive
Bye Bye Love
You're All I've Got Tonight
You Might Think
Magic
Good Times Roll

Oh, and did I say that I ADORE "Since You're Gone"? One of the best songs ever written. The intro of the song is so beautiful, it's tragic.

Cool! thumbs up! And I've always loved the guitar work in their songs, but I never really knew who the guitarist was. lol I agree: very underrated.

And I know you know that Ric produced Bad Brains as well. razz

The Cars had great guitar riffs. I like how they incorporated synths with their rock sound. Definitely unique. I know a "Cars song" when I hear it.

I still play "Shake It Up" and "It's All I Can Do" regularly.

Elliot Easton is a underrated guitar hero. The solo in "Just What I Needed" is incredible. He always played the right stuff for the song. Ben Orr was a great singer too. "Bye Bye Love" is one of his finest moments. The Cars kinda came at the right moment in the early 80's. I always thought it was kinda funny how Rick liked to use the word "come" a lot in his tunes. He did some great production on the Bad Brains "God Of Love" CD.

Yeah, he did. "God Of Love" is a great album. Ben's vocals on "Drive", he found the right vibe perfectly. But u know, "Just What I Needed" is from 78.
