Tom's Diner

Im sitting here listening to this song by Suzanne Vega. I forgot how much I love this song. Its a wonderful abstract song about the goings on inside a cafe. Its so sparse but yet so expansive. I remember when I was a kid watching this video with my bed sheets over the tv set to help create a sorta ethereal atmosphere that the song seemed to demand. This is one of my favorites!! biggrin

Indeed!

And here's a little trivia for ya: the diner that song was written about is the same diner in Seinfeld. He hung out there with the "real" Elaine, George and Kramer and they shot the outside of it for the tv show (when you see that red "restaurant" sign). I ate there a few years ago. mr.green

Chick? Suzanne Vega performed it. It was originally an acoustic track. DNA, a coupl'a producers, remixed it and made it into a hit dance song. Don't know if anyone involved with DNA is a chick.

I agree. The mainstream musical landscape was so much more diverse IMO.

You can never forget that groove — for better or worse. Classic cut.
