Ass Shaker Of The Day: "Electricity" by Midnight Star This was one the baddest jams of 1983. I love that electronic voice and that breakdown in the middle. Many a ass shook to this jam. Anyone feeling this one? Andy is a four letter word.

Their 1983 album 'No Parking On The Dancefloor' is one of the best R&B albums from this period. One jam after another."Freak-A-Zoid" got the ball rolling, and it was a huge summer hit. Then they followed it up with the equally impressive "Wet My Whistle".Other noteworthy tracks include the aptly titled "Slow Jam","Playmates",the extremely infectious title track (remember the Prince lookalike in the video?!) and of course, the aforementioned "Electricity".Cool album that still sounds kickass to this day!!

That was a hot song.
"I got the power to energize..." "I got the power to ::dj scratch:: mag-mag-na-ti-tize." It sounds so good back to back with Bill Summers & Summers Heat's "Call It What You Want" and "Candy Man" by the Mary Jane Girls.

Groovin tune.
Couldn't this song also be called Operater Pt.I (or Operator be called Electricity Pt.II)? tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Yeah, that's one of my favorites too. They tried to duplicate the sound of this song on their 1986 single "Midas Touch",but I prefer "Wet My Whistle".

(or Operator be called Electricity Pt.II)? They recylced the same grooves several times as the 80s wore on.Their 1984 song "Body Snatchers" is very similiar to the previous year's smash "Freak-A-Zoid".As you pointed out, their 1984 hit single "Operator" borrows heavily from the 1983 song "Electricity".Then in 1986,the song "Midas Touch" sounded like "Wet My Whistle Part 2".

Hot track, and you didn't have to skip anything on the album, that's how hot it was.

btw,I always condidered Madonna's song "Music" to be a tribute to "Freak-A-Zoid".It's got a similiar electro-funk sound.I recall her producer (Mirwais) saying that he listens to alot of 80s funk music.
