stock up on your tomatoes now...eddie murphy to sing in "Dreamgirls" movie

this should be a hoot...

Eddie Murphy set to sing in 'Dreamgirls'
NEW YORK (AP) — In the past, Eddie Murphy has been an actor and a singer. In a new musical, he'll get a chance to do both.

Murphy will join Jamie Foxx and Beyonce Knowles in the cast of the upcoming film Dreamgirls, Dreamworks has announced. To be directed by Bill Condon, Dreamgirls is an adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical that first ran on Broadway in the early 1980s.

The movie follows the rise of a trio of women who form a group called The Dreamettes in the 1960s. Murphy will play James "Thunder" Early, a singer for whom the Dreamettes sing back up before taking over the spotlight themselves.

Though Murphy is better known for movies like Beverly Hills Cop,The Nutty Professor and the voice of Donkey in the Shrek films, he has released several albums of soul and pop music.

Dreamgirls is scheduled to begin production early next year

BTW...on a more positive note...american idolists Fantasia, Latoya London and Jennifer Hudson are all going up for parts...they were the best thing about AI season 3

OK guys..get ready to throw your tomatoes at me. I think Eddie would have been a fool not to take this role. Eddie's last flicks have been horrible. It seems he's been taking roles just to put some $ in his pockets to pay bills (without reading the scripts). It would be cool to see him in a role with these other talented people so he can get a "kick" back in his career. Jokes and transvestite jokes aside, he used to be one of the funniest dudes on the planet. Maybe this will get him back in the limelight the way Travolta came back for "Pulp Fiction".

I like 2 of his albums ("so happy" and "loves alright"). He got an ok voice, better then average. He knows his range (which loads dont mad )

Yeah in "showtime" he tried to be funnier again, but that bombed. "daddy day care" was pretty bad. I think "pluto nash" was the biggest flop ever! I was like "whoa, this movie ain't cheap", but it lacked quality.

"nutty prof 2" was whack aswell.

Good for eddie. "shrek" saved his ass lol

he doesn't have a bad voice...

his musical choices haven't been very good, but...

he's just too "Disney" to make an impression anymore, but he's got kids now so...

If he plays it right, "Dreamgirls" won't be too bad!
**...they were right about you.**
