Did you see the photos of Angus on stage with the Stones at that Toronto benefit gig thingy..? Man, Angus is losing his hair and what's left is grey, and STILL side-by-side to Jagger and co he seemed half their age!

Yeah, I saw video of ACDC's set. It kicked ass! headbang I didn't see pics of him w/ the Stones though. But Angus is much younger than Jagger is, isn't he? He has to be because he was just a teenager when they started out.

Love the tune and the album. I'm another one who started with this on cassette.
Wore it out and bought another one. Eventually upgrading to CD.

Slamming hard rock at its best. Doesn't try to be fancy, doesn't try to be cute, doesn't try to be cerebral.
The tunes just rock from Hell's Bells through Shake a Leg. You get sort of a break with Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution
(cause by that time my neck's hurting) headbang

The 1st I heard of these guys were the tunes Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and Highway To Hell.
However I didn't get hooked until I heard Girls Got Rhythm.
Angus gets all the glory (deserved) but it's Malcolm's rhythm guitar (underated) that holds that band together.

Back In Black is the one and only AC/DC album i've got.
Now I see it's out on DualDisc. Might be time to upgrade again.

One of my faves! To me, this is definately one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded. No matter what mood I'm in, whenever I hear this or play it in my ride, I turn this up full blast! This, along with "Bambi" are the only two cover songs I have ever played live with my bands. Whenever we've played "Back in Black", the place goes buckwild. Great song, great, great riff and the solo at the end, to me, is Angus's best.

One of the first songs I learned on guitar. In fact, I played it with my band last night (though I didn't try to sing it!)

I don't really like Brian as much as Bon Scott, but BIB is an amazing album, maybe their best.

I meant to bring that up.

Since I didn't really get into AC/DC via album until BIB, I never developed a strong allegiance to the Bon Scott voice. There appears to be a strong opinion for Bon Scott or Brian Johnson.

Why do you prefer Bon to Brian?

I know you're not directing this question to me, but as always, I'll just butt in here....

I really like Brian Johnson. Mostly because, like you, I started out w/ BIB. nod Then I went back from there and realized that I like Bon Scott as well, but BIB is probably my favorite ACDC album, so then I like Brian again..... lol

Well thank you Little Miss Buttinski. wink Who am I to not allow you to retort? cool

I've seen posts where some where vehemently opposed to Brian Johnson.
And felt that everything post-Bon was pure bull.
confuse With the strength of BIB I just never understood it.

I never understood it either. I was just talking about this actually a few weeks ago with Slash I believe. He's also a Brain Johnson fan and commented about how a lot of ACDC purists would never admit to liking Johnson over Scott.

BIB was my first AC/DC record, too, and it's probably my favorite (maybe Highway to Hell).

But Brian's voice is just a bit too...I don't know, unmusical? Bon had a more relaxed & melodic voice. It's high as well, but less screechy.

But the vocals to BIB the song are some of the funkiest rock vocals ever. I'm not totally Anti-Brian like some.

There is something about that song and their music that is definately influenced by R&B. They certaintly aren't straight ahead metal, and frankly that's what makes their music so memorable. I'm always tempted to buy AC/DC stuff but they always seem to be reissuing it so I'm not sure I should jump on anything so soon. I've heard from both Brain and Bon and they are both good. Very similar.

Hmm, I don't necessarily hear any R&B influence, but they are definitely VERY blues-based. I mean, pretty much all of their songs are basically really hard blues riffs actually. nod

I DO hear what you're saying. Like all the great rock bands, they're all influenced by black american music, be it blues, r&b, which depends on how it's played, can mutate into funk. That's why I understand where u are coming from, cuz "Back in Black" is sho nuff' funky!

The intro to Girls Got Rhythm--very funky

R & B does stand for Rhythm & Blues--that's what AC/DC is.

I know that R&B stands for rhythm and blues. lol It's just got a totally different sound then just straightforward blues though, and I tend to hear more of that sound, the blues, than R&B in their music I guess.
