Frankly, I had a difficult time getting past the overly compressed and far too bright sounding production. This album really would have benefited from a lusher, softer sound - but the songs are there, I think. How did you find the sound of the album? Did you find it as off-putting as I did at first? I've heard similar complaints made about the new Sleater-Kinney lp, and I know you're a fan of that act - did you find a similar problem there?

it just depens on the kind of music you like...
The best POP album is clearly - Mariah Carey still looking forward towards Stevie Wonder's release. Common has the best/most authentic hip hop album

Nothing really for me right now. I love both BE and Livin' The Luxury Brown but they are not the best to me. Coldplay's first single off X&Y sounds too much like Clocks. The rest of the albums listed I've mostly never even heard of the people.

I've heard absolutely nothing so far this year that's really blown me away. But after reading some of these posts and listening to samples online (I loved what I heard), I'm going to give this one a try:

The Tears - Here Come The Tears I think this was a bit lame... although better than last two Suede albums. Some great songs anyway and I love Butler's guitar! ********************************************

I know the year isn't over just yet, but this album has got to be a leading contender. If you haven't heard it yet, do yourselves a favour and give it a listen. Of those who have heard it, whos with me??? I finally picked up this album today! I'm excited to give it a spin

Screw Common and Mariah Carey. This is the underdog right here. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

The Dissociatives...Who apparently not many people have heard of in the US. It's a project put together by Daniel Johns (Yes lead singer of Silverchair) and a DJ friend of his name Paul Mac. If anyone is familar with Silverchair's last cd Diorama imagine that mixed with some Radiohead KidA and Beatles/Beach Boys type vibe. Quite an amazing CD. Great songwriting, melodies and interesting music.

Gonna give a good few spins before reviews.. but this is a great album. Thanks! I found it by accident but what a great accident! If you want to go deeper, try to find their project called "I Can't Believe it's Not Rock" EP which is more darker and more dense. Runner up for "Best of 2005", Robert Plant and Strange Sensation" Mighty Rearranger". For organic,blues,trip-hop,mid-eastern/mid-70's Zep with north african stylings, you can't go wrong.
