here's a site wth a bunch of mash-ups

http://www.gohomeproducti.../mash.html

there are no links though, only a list of them. I'm just downloading some of them them from Emule. I can't wait to see what the Specials vs. TLC sounds like. Morcheeba vs. Led Zeppelin too. I just saw where they have Human Behavior vs. Mary J Blige's "Be Happy" hmmm wonder what that'll sound like....of course not nearly as good as the original. smile

Yeah, he makes some really good ones. "Ray Of Gob" was so good, it was cleared by both Madonna and John Lydon and released officially!

I don't think Ray of Gob is that good. It's not that creative. Now if we could mash her up with "I'm so pretty, you're so pretty....PRETTY VACANT"...
now that might be something. But as it is it's just the Sex Pistols playing back-up to one of my least fave Madonna songs. There's nothing subversive about it. Probably why the Madonna camp liked it okay.

That's exactly what I like about it and mash-ups in general. They take songs that I don't really care for and make them sound great just by putting the music of another well-known song behind it. I actually hate when vocals from both songs are mixed together in the same mash-up--like that Closer/Come Together one that was posted earlier. disbelief

But then there's the problem with taking a song that one adores like Pretty Vacant and diminishing it by stripping out the vocals and mashing it up with something else. disbelief Just give me the original.

It's not a real mash-up if it isn't at least a little sacrilegious.

Go Home Productions made one combining Usher's "Yeah" with Rasmus' "In The Shadows". I never in the world thought I would like any Usher song, but now it sounds good.

not too crazy about the DC s Fugazi one, but I like some of the Beatles ones. I haven't had a chance to listen to all of them yet though. "Mother Nature's Rump" and "Whatcha Want, Lady" are pretty cool. smile

Wrapped Detective:

Elvis Costello / The Police / Lionel Richie / Peggy Lee /
Bob Marley / The Hollies / Led Zeppelin

thumbs up! Hey, I love this! Now that reaches some potential, with some thought and effort put into it, with a lot of finesse, not just mushy. Zeppelin gone reggae, works for me!!!!!

nod It's my favorite mash-up so far. When I first saw how many different artists were used, I was questioning if it would work or not.

Whatcha Want, Lady is my favorite in that collection. Then again, I also think the Beasties are kind of played out in the mash up genre.

Re-Design of a Decade

http://www.djjayr.com/janet.html

...especially check out the "Sunday Bloody Control" mashup (Janet vs. U2). I love that track. RuPaul vs. "Escapade," Eric. B & Rakim's "Paid In Full" vs. "Let's Wait Awhile," etc. A GREAT bossanova version of "Love Will Never Do." Very eclectic stuff.

All are FREE to download.

This is one of my favorite compilations this year.
