Prince - Lovesexy tour. The bootleg made from the videocassettes are okay for now, but I would really like an official DVD with all the bells and whistles.

There's several boots of this circulating.The most recent ripped from the Laserdisc.& I've read the best version available.

Siouxsie And The Banshees - I heard the Banshees played Radio City once before I got into them. A DVD of that show/tour would be nice. I think it was the Peepshow tour.

Do you mean Sessions at 54th st?A nice DVD boot exists.I prefer the HD version of Soundstage myself.

It would be nice if 'Urgh' was released on DVD.

Again, there several versions on boot DVD.The best versions ripped from PAL Laserdisc.

Laurie Anderson really needs to get "Home of the Brave" released on DVD, I don't care if there are no special features or whatnot. It's just really an amazing concert movie. The staging, the music, Adrian Belew, William Burroughs, Laurie's amazing back muscles when she's wearing the ball gown...it's just a freakin' fantastic film that'll make a Laurie Anderson fan out of anyone.

a 2 DVD rip of "home of the brave"? is there extra stuff on it? i don't remember it as being a particularly long movie - maybe 75 minutes or so.

Laurie Anderson - Home Of The Brave A 90 minute performance movie approximating her Home Of The Brave tour. The show is FABULOUS, and the cast of performers on stage with her as her band (but they do much more than just play) includes: Adrian Belew (King Crimson) on guitar, Bill Laswell on Bass (too many bands and projects to list), Joy Askew (Euro Gliders) keyboards, David Van Tieghem on drums (famous in his own right), William S.Burroughs drinks smokes and talks, Richard Landry on sax (Beausoleil), Nile Rogers on guitar (Chic, Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Bryan Ferry). I can't gush enough about this show. You will like it almost no matter what your taste in music is, because its just darned entertaining to see her and her band mates cavort about, perform short dialogues, or act like they are in pre-school. Its also worth noting that because this was captured from a laserdisc, it has STEREO SOUND, which aficionados of Laurie will know was not available for either the broadcast version or the VHS. I could have sacrificed a little quality to fit this all on one dvd, but I left it in its original laserdisc format on two discs with uncompressed sound at the maximum quality attainable by a dvd-r. PLEASE do not ask me for a soundtrack cd of this, I will not be including one. If you are ambitious you can make one yourself form the dvds. Lauri will eventually re-issue this cd herself I would imagine, but the movie seems to have slipped her interest. Miss Anderson is always moving ahead and concerning herself with new ideas and material, and most likely she would not wish to turn away from new adventures to re-live an old one, so this video may have seen its day. Of everything I have complete, this does seem the most likely candidate for re-issue however, so PLEASE BUY IT when it comes out officially. This DVD set is for fans that have worn out their vhs tape. The laserdisc was perfect with no discernable rot, and the transfer went flawless. This rates a 4.5 to me ONLY because the original is so well filmed, and because the scenes tend to be high contrast: Unless you have 50K color correction processors to compensate and correct the signal, high contrast images tend to produce color bleed when played back. You may see a slight blue edge to the left of bright areas on your TV in some places. This IS NOT ON THE DVD, which you will see if you view it on a computer. It stems from the fact that TV can only comprehend contrast on certain curves, which are maintained on the original video very deliberately when it was produced, but lost in the capture and transfer process. The only means I would have to eliminate them would be to lower the overall contrast, which would render an inferior image overall. If you have a good TV, this effect is limited internally, but low and medium level consumer products leave that circuitry out to save money. You might also see an improvement when using the color component output available on new dvd players. Performances Are As Follows
