I see that the org has a lot of gay members. Then again, it is a Prince fan site.

OJ, (snickers at the initials) You don't have to apologize for your feelings on homosexuality. Everybody is entitled to their opinions. I myself decided a long time ago to just completely butt out of other peoples' sex/love lives. Who somebody screws/loves, etc. is none of my business if it doesn't involve me and I choose not to care about what anybody else is doing. Trust me, you should try it. Its better that way. No one can make you accept anything you don't want to accept and you can't change anyone's ways/lifestyles/whateva, so its best to just leave well enough alone. There is a segment of the homosexual community that are very Nazi-like about people accepting their lifestyle. (I AM NOT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY REFFERING TO ANYONE WHO HAS POSTED; I'M JUST COMMENTING) Its best to just ignore them. I caught shit before on here just for saying that I didn't care about the homosexual lifestyle and immediately got attacked as if I was leading a right-winged Christian march against them. Nothing has changed. I still don't care. People get heated about the topic and long posts like this one get posted and the end results are still the same.

As for Maxwell; internet rumors are a bitch. I don't know if he's bi, but I know he's not gay. Like I said, calling Maxwell gay is like calling Prince gay. There's too much evidence against it to hold water. If Prince fans knew as much about Maxwell as they did about Prince, this thread would have died a long time ago. If dude does by some miracle "out" himself, nothing would change for me. He's a helluva singer and I'll still buy his music.

You are going to get a lot of heat for that comment. All I'm going to say is that that sort of thing can be said for any under-represented/maligned community. You need people at both extremes and middle of the road to get any movement underway. Unfortunately, the media and public would rather focus on the radicals. The same sentiment was also expressed about the feminist and civil rights movements. I'm not comparing the movements, just the perception of them.

I think the media focuses way too much on the overly feminine gay men and not enough on the masculine ones. The general public needs to see that there are all kinds of gay people and not just the stereotypes.

Sorry, that's straight-up homophobia. Us gay folks listen to your straight freaky tales all the time and we don't complain...open up your mind and hear the music and the universal expression behind it. I seriously doubt he's getting that nasty...he's Maxwell for god's sake (though not that I'd mind if he did). But if he's truly coming out on this record, I'll have way more respect for him than I ever did before.

HELL YEAH!!!!!

DOUBLE FUCKING CO-SIGN.

Who is y'all gay folks? Acutally I did get a few relies/orgnotes of critism (you know, great storytelling skills but sickening). But if somebody made freaky tales about two men, I wouldn't complain about that; in fact I wouldnt even post at all on that thread (Id probably stop readin at an earlu point too LOL!). Wouldnt wanna bring negativity to a thread everybody's enjoying.

In fact, on some of my fanfic threads, Khlk was my biggest and WORST critic. She wouldnt read it unless there was some guy-on-guy action. LOL!

How is that homophobia??? You think just because I dont wanna hear about or see a man kissing a another man Im homophobic??? Especially if its sexually explict. I dont wanna hear about a man suckin another guy's penis. And you think Im homophobic cause of that. I accept homosexuals in society, I dont mind working with them at work, I dont havin gay friends, I dont gay bash, but I dont wanna hear about two getting busy with each other either. Thats disgusting to me. I understand that theres alot of gay people on this board, but that dont stop me from posting here. I think gay people and gay supporters throw tha word "homophobic" around too much even to those it doesnt even apply too. I think you're heteorphobic for saying that.

Thats exact shit what I was sayin but they perfer to think Im homophobic. That what I said in the beginning in my very first post. I just simply said that I didnt wanna hear no sexually explict songs a man making love to another man. I didnt say I wouldnt listen to his earlier music anymore. I didnt make any anti-gay slurs or nothing.

I find this kind of sad. I grew up with straight boys that love THE SMITHS and they were HARDCORE fans. The lyrics were pretty much always written about a man for a man.

M

Well, thats them. Besides you probably didnt grow up the same kinda neighborhood I grew up in. Give you hint: nobody seemed to be into the Smiths there.

Not necessarily. If Maxwell came "out" at this point in his life and is having intimate/sexual relations ONLY with men, then he would be considered a gay black man.

Well yeah. ONLY if it were with men.

And ifMaxwell were openly bisexual, he wouldn't be either. He'd only be "down low" if he was posing as straight but hooking up with men secretly.

There's a big difference. Get it right.

Murph, you need to get you damn facts straight. It's humourous to see how little you know about music trivia. Of course you are probably to young to remember the video, I'm Still Standing by Elton which featured gay men in S&M outfits. And in the Faith by George Micheal did have some homosexual overtunes with him it leather chaps with the camera directed on his ass. Get a coke and smile and shut the fuck up until you get a clue about the flava. Choa!

Legsssss....Nice to see that you still got that same old spunk...First of all, my original post said that you didn't see Elton and George pumping out explicit homoerotic material...and I'm sorry, but, "I'm Still Standing" even if it featured a dude in S&M was campy as hell...it was Gay Camp, which was more humorous than threatening....As for GM, i think the leather jacket(or chaps) thing was more about him doing a 50's revival thing than showing gay undertones. And at the time of his Faith era GM claimed he was dating that gorgeous Asian model that was in the I Want Your Sex video....and GM wasn't even trying to come out of the closet...The '80s was all about being androgynous, Legs...everybody was doing it...Boy Geroge was a drag Queens. But all of Culture Club's love songs were straight songs that were SECRETLY about the male drummer.. These acts made traditional or sexually charged music that never went to the depths of homoeroticism unless you were Eraser (that's another story)Back to GM--- Like our boy Prince, GM was quick to let people know that he was straight....That's a fact...Now are we still going to go out for that drink?

This was one of the most interesting threads i've read in a long time.
Being a straight male, i tend to agree with onion's points, though i don't know if i would have been as insensitive.

OJ's views are right on with the radio stations at the current time, and Maxwell's PR people and label are not about to let this guy come out with homosexual material when he's made them money singing the panties off of women.
It's will be years before r&b homosexual men will be able to come out of the closet and sell records. Just look at the careers of Tevin Campbell since he got busted, and one of my favorites Rashaan Patterson has never been played on the radio period. Rashaan has more talent than John Legend, and 90 percent of most of the crap being played on r&b radio, but the fact that the industry knows he is gay has hindered him and his poplularity.

Cudos to Maxwell if this is what he really wants to do, but he has to know that this will kill his career.

Because prince sung about giving HEAD to a woman not a man. He talked about incest with his SISTER not his brother. He talked about Fuc*ing the taste out of a woman's mouth not a man's. With all of the of the heels and makeup that Prince rocked, he never sung about giving it to another man.
