if you depend on simplicity in your lyrical content and/or pop stars, you're gonna be missing out on a lotta stuff. I aint sayin R. Kelly's a genius just because he makes hits or makes the best love songs, but also because he's extremely creative in his music. He take a different approach that other artists is scared to take.
then just say that he's an extremely creative artist. being blunt in one's work doesn't really qualify for being called a "genius". and in this day and age, what he does and all of his song topics are not shocking. | |

I'd never heard the album version until I read that in your post. And now that I have...it's no longer a song I can say that I like. It's disturbing for a few reasons. Aaliyah was 12-years-old when that song was written, and it was co-written by Aaliyah's uncle, Barry Hankerson (who introduced her to Kelly). I'm not naive. I know that they were married and the marriage was later annuled, but I didn't know the seed was planted that early. Makes me miss her even more.  [Edited 6/10/05 19:05pm] | |
