my thoughts on this weeks Hit Me Baby one More Time (week2)

this week i thought all the groups did an excellent job on their own hits and not so good on the newer songs which is a change from last week when i thought they all did the newer songs better

The Knack were great with My Sharona! headbang but really could have picked a better song to sing than Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet and its amazing how lead singer Doug Fieger almost looked exactly the same as he did in 1979 smile

Haddaway-he did a very good job with What Is Love also did a fine job with Toxic and im suprised on nbc,com he only got 5 percent of the vote

Tommy Tutone-did decent on Jenny and was awful on the Blink 182 song...i was never a big fan of the Jenny song anyway even in 1982

The Motels-my favorite of the bands going into the show tonight did a very good job with Only The Lonely but should have picked a better song that fit with Martha Davis's voice than the Nora Jones song

Vanilla Ice-i wasnt too impressed with him on Ice Ice Baby but he did do a good job with his version of Survivor but i dont think he should have won

overall i think the show was better than last week as i have enjoyed both weeks the only things that bother me are is how can you have a band like the Knack from 1979 or Tommy Tutone compete with younger artists of the 90's like Vanilla Ice and Haddaway it doesnt seem fair..they should try to keep the show all 80's or 90's if they want but dont mix the two..it also unfair because it seemed most of the audience (the voters) look to be in the their 20's & are much more likely to remember Vanilla Ice than they are to remember the Knack or the Motels

and another thing why is the audience voting anyway?? arent they missing out on a lot of money by not using a 900 number to vote or having people vote on their cell phones?

anyways im looking forward to Wang Chung & Howard Jones next week! headbang

yeah, Maz ..pretty much agree across the board. This week they did better with their own songs. It seems the act that plays to the crowd the most wins.Last week Arrested Development , this week Vanilla Ice...anyways my twocents

* The Knack: Lead singer Doug Fieger appearantly jumped right out of his time capsule from 1979 to do this show. 26 years and the dude looks exactly the same. eek The performance of My Sharona was right on too. Are You Gonna Be My Girl which seemed like a good song chocie on paper , was rough and didnt wrk for them.

*Haddaway: Good job on What Is Love, but his Britneyesque slithering on the ground during Toxic was scary.

*Tommy Tutone: Unlike Doug Fieger 20+ years shows on Tommy. 867-5309 sounded ultra-chessey to me . I liked the song back in the day , now it sounds stupid. Vocals were good reguardless. On Blink 182's All The Small Things ..they took an awful song and hacked it even worse.

* The Motels: Well basicly just Martha Davis. Looked like she was the one to beat after the first round , after a perfect performance on Only the Lonely. But then a speeded up dance type version of Norah Jones' "Dont Know Why" , left me saying ..wtf!!!?

*Vanilla Ice: Hes a punked up rapper now a la Fred Durst. Oddly enough it seems to work for him. Stole the crowd with Ice Ice Baby . Survivor was not Destiny's Child Survivor. He went with their opening chord then launched into his own song. His stange presence buried the competition.

Tough call this week , but think they got it right overall.

I thought The Knack were totally ON, and I was expecting them to do well. The Motels I also expected to do well, but that remake just BLEW!
