Geniuses of all time????!!! I'm stunned...This has got to be a sick joke....
Where are: Ray Charles Sam Cooke Stevie Wonder Al Green Aretha Franklin Sly Stone James Brown George Clinton Prince Marvin Gaye Maurice White Isaac Hayes Ronald Isley Chaka Khan How old are the people at black voices? Please tell me it's a bunch of third graders....are they just talking about those who are influencing the sorry state of so-called R&B these days? is sampling taken into account? and how do any of the people they list qualify as geniuses? .... Lists like this (all lists, really) are pointless.
Is anybody going to be looking back at these lists say, 15-20 years from now for some sort of validation? I sincerely doubt it. I've come to the conclusion that lists like these simply give folks something to talk about, plus they fill up lots of space in magazines and music channels.

The credibility of AOL Black Voices has just reached the stupididy level.
This list was obviously comprised of younger folks. I mean Keith Sweat? I loved his music but a genuis? That's the funniest shit I ever heard. Just the fact that Marvin, Prince, and Stevie are left off the list is a fucking joke in itself. Now - R.Kelly compared to the aforementioned names isn't in their league, but he maybe considered a genuis based on today's popular artist.... anyay, who gives a shit - we all know who the genuises are

This list is worthwhile just for laughs. Nobody should be upset just because someone had a stupid opinion.
The agage "Don't believe everything you read" is more important than ever in the age of the internet. Any moron with access to a computer can end up being read by a billion people. Check this song out at:

This is only the first day of Black Music Month and I'm already pissed! The sad thing is, a whole generation will read this list (which was plastered front and center on my PC when i logged on, mind you) as the ultimate truth. a lot of younger, uninformed folks will read this crap and never appreciate what the word "genius" truly means. you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

The list is probably better than what they're already listening to! I think they'll hear of Ray Charles eventually. I doubt Keith Sweat will supplant Prince as the "Greatest Musician of the Last 25 Years." Check this song out at:

Maybe they're making the slight distinction between R&B and Soul? Even still, it wouldn't make much sense. That's the only thing I can figure.

Ralph Ellison? Ralph Waldo Ellison? Yeah, Unbelievably the writer compares D'Angelo's paused genius to Ellison who peaked early, lived on, but never transcended his brilliant masterpiece The Invisible Man. Waldo? Uhm, Ellison's middle name isn't Waldo. Perhaps you're thinking of Ralph Waldo Emerson Anyway, this list is way off. None of these people deserve mention as a genius of all time.
