Actually, music critics said right after he was accquited that there was a possiblity of him coming back with good numbers. And keep in mind, critics are animals and in the past, most said he was dead here and would never come back. Maybe they found overally sympathic people but I don't doubt that if both MJ and Whitney stop fucking up (in the case of MJ, if he did anything, it's beyond just "fucking up"), they might get their careers back on track.
