NOW,THIS WOMAN CAN SANG!!!!!!!!!!

I urge you all to get this CD RIGHT NOW-Carolyn Leonhart New 8th Day!!!

Her vocals especially on tracks 5(Whisper Not) & 8(Home)will knock your socks off and are more soulful than the Joss Stones & Alicia Keys of the world sound even on their best days.
If you live in New York ,you can go see her perform at clubs.

nod I do recall her singing backing vocals for Steely Dan at one time. Her vocal are average and not over the top.

Really because from what I've heard thus far I am not impressed. I'm sorry but she's not a Diana Krall. She quite mediocre.

Of course, its a matter of opinion. She definitely not a Diana Krall and that's for sure. She has a while to go before she perfects her craft.

Yeah, she's cool, but not off the chain.

Now, if you wanna hear off the chain go to Ledisi.com -- THAT'S A SANGA! And then check out LeelaJames.com - ANOTHA SANGA!

Actually Diana Krall gets boring after awhile.
Carolyn usually gets down after the sax or piano solos, where on the first half of the tune she is more calm.
She can be more soulful than the average jazz singer, sometimes she sounds dare I say, like a sista.
I wish the mp3s on her site were full-length,instead of samples, then you could hear what I'm talking about.
You can hear more of her here: http://www.lynleon.com

Actually the coda of Whisper Not always makes me think of Chaka.
Seen her live when?
Was it with Steely Dan,then there's no way you can hear everything she can do singing backup for somebody else, even when they let her have a solo..."she is far from a sista?"I meant she can be soulful at times DAMN.
Chaka Khan would make mince meat out of most people, what's does that have to do with anything?
I listen to mostly old school artists including Chaka,so if I'm latching on to someone modern, she BETTER be damn good!
Listening to this album,I hear singing that is WAY better than most female singers who are popular today-black or white.

Hey nobody's trying to force you to like her.
But like I said, there are times when she can be soulful,I have read reviews where her singing was called soulful, one in particular said she reminded him of Randy Crawford.(who last time I checked was a sista wink

Hell, she is a far cry from Randy Crawford. That analogy is a stretch and is very hilarious.

I have heard her do certain things with her voice that remind me of Randy,Denice Williams and other r&b style singers.

Oh hell nah. She is far cry from Denice Williams. Denice Williams has 3-4 octave range.

You are not understanding me,I didn't say she could do EVERYTHING Denice could do,but there is a song on her first album where she sings in a way that reminds me of some of Denice's vocal mannerisms, for lack of a better word.

Here is the review that mentions Randy: http://www.musicaldiscove...ewr&id=251
