Actually, Rich Harrison used a Meters sample for "One Thing"; the song is entitled "Oh, Calcutta" and dates from 1970. The tempo of the original is actually slowed down for Amerie's track. So it's not a Go-Go sample. | |

so much talk until this was mentioned! I love The Meters and 'Oh Calcutta' is a great song! This break used by Amerie makes her song good. Too bad it is what the song is all about! But again, a great use of a sample.....it sounds new when you first hear it and then you find out it's 35 years old.....how old is Amerie? | |

Her records have more Hip Hop flair to them. Her first album was great. Production team on point.
She did a lot of radio in 2002. we got to know her a lil bit. She is sweet as she can be. Did you catch her on Nas' Stillmatic Album? This is what amuses me. Y'all act like she is a new artist. It is true. Hip Hop/R&B Music charts are never really paid attention to. As far as calling her a hoe...I think she and her manager are together? I feel very funny "defending" a person I don't know.
