Anxy's Top 100 Albums Of All Time, Ever, Amen.

And all this time I thought it was about Sandra and Jm. J!!!

I know what bollocks means - I'm just not British enough to spell it correctly, apparently. Duly noted and promptly corrected, thankees. biggrin

As for The Smiths and Morrissey, they're on a very special list that will be waiting for me upon my arrival in Hell. barf

that's an album i feel like i still haven't absorbed completely, though i've listened to it enough times to kinda be able to map it out in my mind. i think it's a really amazing collection of music, whatever the motivation was or wasn't.

Thats just it! I think the motivation derived from both.. having motivation.. and not having motivation.. Thats kindof weird to say, but thats how it appears on record.. and its brilliant.

Good to see 1 album I can laugh at (i cant laugh at anyones collection usually) and that is xanadu. My dad has it, ridiculed to death by me, my sister and brother.

odd to see "ice cream castles"? Personally that is my least fav time album. Morris' solo albums beat "ice cream castles". U have reminded me to play it again. I use to play out "my drawers".

there are songs on the other time albums i like better, but on the whole, i like listening to 'ice cream castles' from beginning to end more than their other albums. go figure.

nod Agreed. I think ELO were genius in their own right. They mananged to blend strings, disco, and rock. But, I think one of their best works to date was the Xandu soundtrack w/Oliva which you listed on your list.

That's what I should do. It'd probably be easiest if I ordered each artist's albums individually and then see how they mesh together. Mine will be like yours though, majorly Prince and Bowie dominated. Between the 2, they'll probably make up like a quarter of my list.

I think this is a tremendous list - that should go without saying, but I want to say it, anyway, with special mention made of how happy I am to see Julian Cope and Gavin Bryars here.

Also - this isn't a criticism or anything - this kinda shocks me:

47. High Llamas – Snowbug

I like this album, but I never would have thought of ranking it above Hawaii or Gideon Gaye - maybe I've been neglecting it. I'll have to slot it in for some playing time this weekend.

The first time I heard that Gavin Bryars album, it was played for me by someone really special and I couldn't help but cry a little before the album was done. It's really just such a gorgeous, touching piece of music. It makes me feel protected.

As for Snowbug, it may not be the best High Llamas album, but it's my favorite for several reasons. First off, I really like the vocal contributions from the Stereolab gals. Secondly, and on a very personal level, I bought this album when I was in NYC, and at that time I was in a really horrible living situation....and for the time that it took me to get out of that place and into a better apartment, that CD was the only beautiful thing in my home.
