Super Hits Of The 70s:Have A Nice Day Volumes 1-25 (Rhino Records) Am I the only one who loves these CDs? If you grew up in the 70s and you can't get enough of that music, these CDs are essential.I have all 25 volumes. When you listen to these CDs,it's just like listening to AM pop radio stations in the 70s.In addition to the big hits, there are so many rare and forgotten gems on these CDs.These compilations are obviously inspired by those numerous K-TEL records that were so popular in the 70s.Some of the songs that you will find on these CDs... "Angel In Your Arms" by Hot (1977) "I Just Wanna Stop" by Gino Vanelli (1978) "Love Is Like Oxygen" by Sweet (1978) "Billy Don't Be A Hero" by Bo Donaldson and The Heywoods (1974) "Devil Woman" by Cliff Richard (1976) "Smoke From A Distant Fire" by The Sanford/Townsend Band (1977) "Magic" by Pilot (1975) "Magnet and Steel" by Walter Egan (1978) "New York Groove" by Ace Frehley (1978) "You Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate (1975) "Eighteen With A Bullet" by Pete Wingfield (1975) "Falling Apart At The Seams" by Marmalade (1976) "Gonna Fly Now (Theme From Rocky) by Bill Conti (1977) "Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck (1976) "Couldn't Get It Right" by Climax Blues Band (1977) "Midnight At The Oasis" by Maria Muldaur (1974) "Lead Me On" by Maxine Nightingale (1979) Rhino Records is the BEST label for 70s music...these guys know what they're doing! Can anyone recommend any other worthwhile 70s compilations?

I don't have any of that particular collection but I have seen it in stores for years. Actually, this past weekend, I was looking for some of that particular collection and they seem to have become scarce. This one particular record store by my house seems to be slipping lately.
Over the years, Rhino Records definately has made some great compilations. I have all seven volumes of the "Phat Trax", all four volumes of "Street Jams: Electric Funk", and two volumes of "Street Jams". The two volumes of the "Tom Joyner Old School Morning Mix" are great also. They also have made some good greatest hits compilations for individual artists. Andy is a four letter word.

You're gonna have fun just deciding which volumes to get first. There are 25 of them. I'll probably stay away from most of the cds that are heavy on funk or disco, because Lord knows I have enough of THAT in my personal collection, and funk so oversaturates the market where I live, it's too easy to track down...I think I'm gonna look for the cds that are heaviest on that AM light 70's vibe, you know, like Gino Vannelli or something. That stuff is MUCH harder to find for me...and with that I guess I just really showed my age up in here !

"Still The One" by Orleans "Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang" by Silver "Stand Tall" by Burton Cummings "Torn Between Two Lovers" by Mary McGregor "I Like Dreamin" by Kenny Nolan "Don't Give Up On Us" by David Soul "Jeans On" by David Dundas "Lonely Boy" by Andrew Gold "The Things We Do For Love" by 10cc "Couldn't Get It Right" by Climax Blues Band "Undercover Angel" by Alan O'Day "Gonna Fly Now (Theme from Rocky)" by Bill Conti some cheesy tracks,to be sure, but even those are alot of fun

RHINO RECORDS I have a few of those Phat Trax ,too... but only one of those "Superhits". I bought Vol.1 only for "Baby, It's You" by Smith. They should have squeezed a few more songs on those ( I believe they limit themselves to ten songs...) Rhino indeed rules , tho. "...all you need ...is justa touch...of mojo hand....."

Wow, what a set! I would imagine Rhino's would be the best. Their 7 CD Box Set... ...Have A Nice Decade: The '70s Pop Culture Box, might be an easier alternative for someone trying to ease into that music. Like Cee said, Rhino's Didn't It Blow You Mind! Soul Hits of the '70s... ...looks like a good one for someone wanting to focus on R&B. I've looked at all those Rhino sets but always chickened out at the last minute. TimeLife has an Ultimate 70s Series... ...(1 disc per year) and then an Utimate 70s Super Set (the Ultimate 70s Series plus 6 more discs. 16 total). Looks like a mix of Pop/R&B/Rock. Similar material as on the Rhino comps. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

By the way, who made the song "You're The Biggest Part Of Me"? Parts of it I remember are:
Make a wish baby....we'll make it come true.... Sunrise...by my side.....you're always there to guide me... You're the biggest part of me.... Andy is a four letter word.

Regarding Hey Nineteen, if you want the album it's on... ...Gaucho would be the move. However if you're just looking for that and other hits... ...this covers a pretty wide range of tunes. Now if you're in a deeper pockets mood... ...go for the double-disc Showbiz Kids: The Steely Dan Story Believe it or not there's an even deeper pockets collection. The cool thing about this Ambrosia comp by Rhino... is that all three David Pack tunes (the hits) are in sequence on the disc. That way if you don't dig the other material it's easy to get around. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Sad Eyes - Robert John Love Will Find A Way - Pablo Cruise I've been looking for these two. Now I know where to start looking. "Sad Eyes" can be found on Volume 22,which is one of the most consistent CDs in the whole series... VOLUME 22 "Every 1's A Winner" by Hot Chocolate "Hot Child In The City" by Nick Gilder "Love Is In The Air" by John Paul Young "Lotta Love" by Nicolette Larson "Dancin Shoes" by Nigel Olsson "Stumblin' In" by Suzi Quatro and Chris Norman "My Sharona" by The Knack "Gold" by John Stewart "You Take My Breath Away" by Rex Smith "Driver's Seat" by Sniff N' The Tears "Sad Eyes" by Robert John "Hold On" by Ian Gomm not a bad song in the bunch! And how long has it been since you heard songs like "Drivers Seat","You Take My Breath Away",and "Hold On"? [Edited 6/8/05 0:37am]
