Love Fishbone. I've seen them 3 times out here in L.A., all in the 80's, when they were basically just a club act. Them being an L.A. band, all the kids at my school used to go see them and the Chilli Peppers play before they really became known. Fishbone ROCKS live! Thanx for the info! Did you know Prince sampled Fishbone on Billy Jack Bitch? Is this the old Fishbone? If so it should be great. But ever since their lead guitarist/lyricist, keyboard player and in my opinion, the best drummer ever - Fish - left the band, they are nothing more than a bar band now. It is kind of sad. Angelo was trying to sell t-shirts behind the t-shirt stand the last time I saw them.

Fishbone is one of Prince's favorite bands. He admitted it in a "Musician" 1996 cover story. Fishbone rocks. My old band was lucky enough to open for them back in 2003 with King's X on the same bill. All the Bone cats are cool!

My old band was called "Spastic". Kinda of a cross between Faith No More and the Chili's with a little Funkadelic in there. It was fun while it lasted, but the usual thangs (ego, money, women) kinda took over (lol).

I thought you were in 24-7 Spyz, ok I don't like Fishbone, just the t-shirts, Fishbone is another one of those bands that other musicians love, I just don't think their great, I'll cop the dvd though.

lol..Nah, I'm just a fan of the Spyz. Yeah Fishbone is not for everyone, but they put on one helluva show. They're one of the few bands you can groove AND mosh to (lol). To answer your question Hot Legs I played guitar in the group.

Fishbone was on the verge of making it big and I bet if they were white they would have made it, but like Prince and Funkadelic, they were not easily categorized and failed to get much radio play. They had an HBO concert and a Lollapalooza gig but once their lead guy went a bit crazy they fell apart. As of like 8 years ago and since then have not put out anything decent. If this DVD is their original line-up it should be good though. They are now like Pink Floyd without Roger Waters or Short Bus (Sublime) without Brad.

Cool. U hip to a band called "Amalgam"? That was my band that was part of the Black Rock Coalition (West Coast Chapter). Bobby Gee (Grisset) who played bass, later went on to play keys in the first lineup of Morris Day and The Time. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. There is documentary of the Black Rock Coalition that was played on a cable station out here in So. Cal called Paragon. My band is featured in the film. They follow us to 2 gigs and interview us and all that. It was being shown in coffee houses around town as well. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Yes!! I do remember Amalgam..You were in that group? That's really cool B!... The "BRC" really tried to open up a lot of doors for groups here in the East Coast. I used to go to a lot of the BRC shows at a club in NYC called "Wetlands" and the BRC did a lot of tribute shows to Prince, Living Colour, P-Funk, and Jimi. That must have been something seeing your band in a documentary. Did it help your band get more exposure?

Oh yeah..Sorry B! I didn't know you and Hot Legs had a "thang". I would never steal another guitarist's lady.....but if it's an open relationship then I ain't mad at ya!! (lol)

By the time the film came out, the band had already broken up. Ain't that some shit! Yeah, I was on lead vocals and lead guitar, and it was a cross between Hendrix, Funkadelic, Sabbath and early P. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
