Lucy in the sky with diamonds actually supposedly isn't about drugs. And yes, I know everyone knows that John got the title from one of Julian's drawings but I've read interviews with both John and Paul who both say that the title was neither a play on "LSD" nor was it really supposed to be about LSD, it was just supposed to be a evocative, strange, dreamy description of the arrival of the perfect woman in your life. Some Beatles songs that are about drugs: She Said She Said, Doctor Robert, Got To Get You Into My Life (paul says the title is addressed to marijuana itself), Tomorrow Never Knows.
I think Hendrix said that Purple Haze was inspired by a dream. Are You Experienced itself goes a bit deeper than that too I think. I heard someone say that Hendrix actually never did acid, but I'm know he did some sort of drugs, even if his drug use has been exaggerated. Too High, Bird of Beauty-Stevie Wonder, very good anti-drug songs | |
