 YES. Although most of the cure's stuff is either about drugs, or fucking. So that was an easy one.
biggrin

I submit to you: "la ment (flexi)".
That song IS acid.

their is a bad ass song from this underground female rapper named Jane Doe who did a song called Bisexual in which she talks about all the drugs she experimented with and the way she flips it you think she is talking about women she fucked around with...
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.

Thoughts about the current cure goings-on:

It sucks that Perry & Roger are gone, especially Roger. I am interested to hear the new songs on the 15th tho. (if you didn't hear, Yahoo Music will be presenting two of the new songs on June 15th... )
Could be cool to hear them as a 3 piece again. I hated Self Titled so if it's more of the same, I'll be disappointed. I think it's bullshit that Roger wasn't informed in person about his dismissal, that he found about it on the website...
But aside from that, how will they perform like 90% of their material on tour without a synth? I've heard the rumors that Steve Severin may join. I have mixed feelings about that, although I can't say why, because I love "the Glove" LP.

I am listening to the early version of "elise" with different lyrics. Beautiful...

Hmm. Do you know the destination for these songs? Are they supposed to be on an upcoming album? I've been kinda slacking in my Cure research the last few days. Maybe they want to make a truly heavy album as a 3-piece and the tour will be a more agressive "Pornography" style affair. Dunno. Should be interesting though. But yeah, I'm gonna miss Roger too.

And I think I'm the only person that actually likes their last album. neutral

nod You're right. At that time, Bowie and Iggy were doing a lot of white horse at the time. I remember this being mentioned in a Bowie documentary.

all i know is what chain of flowers posted on their news page:

# Looks like we won't have to wait much longer for a preview of the 3 piece Cure. The new e-mail from Yahoo! Music Backstage/Pepsi Smash on Yahoo! has the following listed in their Mark Your Calendar section:

Wednesday, 6/15 The Cure Video Interview & Performance

"Second Source" scores again. He/She said that 2 of the new songs would be on Yahoo! Music, 2 on another online site, and 1 possibly on a movie soundtrack.

-----

That equals five, so there we go. I doubt we'll see a new album this year, although I'd like to be proven wrong.

You're surely not the only fan of the latest album. What I don't like about it:

The lyrics. They sound like someone trying to imitate RS's style. There's no poetry...

The mixing. Every sound on the album seems out of wack, not smooth like a cure album should be. There is something to be said for raw, of course (see "The Kiss" or "Cut" for example).

Robert's vocals. He just comes off like an whiney emo kid on most of the album. "Lost" could have been an instant classic. It almost is, but, no thanks. And I want to hit Robert in the mouth when he sings "The Promise". God, shut up.

I really, really hate "Anniversary". I really love "End of the world".

The best songs were left off of the U.S. release. "Going Nowhere" is great, as is "Truth Beauty and Kindness or whatever" and "Fake" and the other ones that i don't remember the names of (Four in all were left off of the american cd).

All of this is imaginary tho, because I wanted to love this album, I loved bloodflowers, and the above thoughts are the closest I can come to why I don't like the new one. It just doesn't *feel* like a cure album at all. I'll join the bandwagon and blame their new producer Ross Robertson.
